Slightly higher price :weary: booo…. lol (I understand but wanted extra justification to be like “yes I needed 5 lanterns”)
Almost ready for production yayyy!!

The update was edited after you posted above)
Yep… you’re dead center your prediction sir! lol I never saw your response in the midst of the 4000 posts.
I was referring to this:
Chasealmighty:I’m interested. Is it too late? What’s the price range? I can’t seem to fix one.
That’s great!
You’re not too late.
The price is roughly $30 or $40, maybe, hopefully. It has not been finalized. We’re glad to have you here!
In the future, if you look at the top left of any thread page here, you will see a button that says “search within thread”, you can get your answers much faster that way. In fact, I couldn’t remember the price, so I used it to find this answer for you by searching for “price”.Thanks!

And looking back I see that you responded to that quote with this:
swiftblade13:I’m interested in the lantern but this is very much dependent on price, any possible range?
Were not exactly sure yet, but depends on once the final production model is set to go, were guessing between 45 to 55 range.
lol still excited!!!
Fantastic to hear that DBSAR!
I was slowly getting nervous after not hearing about any significant progress since last year and now we are even close to a production model! And $50 is totally fine for a lantern like this.
Still made by Sofirn?
Update
Barry & the manufacturer are getting ready to build the test prototypes to send to the team sometime this month, to evaluate & test, and if all is good then the production & sales could begin by May. as this is a Lantern and uses many new-designed parts that are not found anywhere else on any flashlight, (all the top end parts, driver circuit with charging circuit built in, ramping tint ffeature, etc. costs are expected to be a bit higher than an average flashlight, ( and many flashlights can share common parts like lenses, bezels, MCPCBs, etc. the manufacturer is estimating the cost to be around 50 per unit at this time, which is right where i predicted it to be for a lantern that has so much features & capability that no other lantern has i ever tested. The original prototype i built was a very simple design, but this production planned model has much more. There is a possibility in the future we could work on two other models, a very basic, single tint version with simple modes, no charging, etc for the 35 dollar range, and the second top-of-the-line model with the built -in USB power bank and include the planned accessory kit.
For those of you who haven’t already done so now’s the time to verify that your blf name is correct on either of the linked spreadsheets (post #2). PM Notifications will be automatically generated based on the names in those spreadsheets so if your name is incorrect then you won’t be getting a PM.
This is a one-time check so once verified then you’re good to go. Only send me a PM if your name is wrong.
YES! WooHoo! Let’s get this party started!
I was thinking about waiting for the second batch, that is supposed to have power bank feature, but why not both
Interested in one
So first version is not gonna have power bank capability?
posts #3600 and #3616 said no power bank, maybe later
DBSAR make them send you a second lens / cup /acrylic part.
So you can test when it will break.
The rim of the top part locks a bit thin. A bit more Aluminium would be good
I don’t expect this as the last prototype, as you said there are a lot of new parts.

I will mention to Barry to send me an extra lens/globe to do testing on indeed. ( as i will be doing as series of testing as videos on Youtube.

nice :+1:
Regarding a rubber bumper:
What about a groove for a big o-ring on head and bottom?
Or any other rubber seal from the plumbers store?

That could be a good idea to add.
Interested, thank you
Please add me to the list for one. Awesome work by everyone involved! I’ve been following this thread for several years now.
Thank you for the update and all of your continued efforts, Den!
I’m looking forward to your new testing videos.
I watched your original prototype videos when you first posted them. And a couple more times since.

Thanks for the support. I do need to do more videos of flashlight & lanterns, and will definitely soon, especially once this BLF LT1 lantern project gets rolling.

I think the basic model could use a modified version of Anduril. Basically just set to the multi mode group instead of ramping, and possibly some high number of clicks to unlock Anduril so the normies don’t accidentally change things.
This is fantastic news, been following for some time. As a long time lurker, this is the project that made me join BLF to get in on the action, very much looking forward. Thank you to all who’ve invested their time and resources to realize this lantern.
