Best budget tablet?

I’m looking for a new tablet, only for android and with 2 gb ram.

What are you guys using?

Are the Chinese tablet worth a darn?

If you know any good deal please write it here.

Thanks anyway!

Android…

Run to your local BestBuy and buy a Samsung Tab A 10.1 inch. About $200. They are about to be phased out.

Best buy for the money. I’m writing this on my two year old Tab A. Zero issues and battery life is still about 10 hours of surfing.

OR…

In a few weeks you can get the Samsung S5e for $400

I’m upgrading to that.

My wife is still using a six year old Samsung 8”. No problems. Several Samsung phones, no problems.

Chinese tablets are……Chinese tablets.

EDIT….don’t forget to get a good hard case and a glass top. 25 bucks total.

No BestBuy in Greece, AKAIK.

But yea, Samsung makes great tablets. I am still using an older Tab S2.

We bought the Fire tablet from amazon last prime day. It is better than expected, with coupons/vouchers and discount we paid 75,- $US if I remember correctly.

Been using the Samsung Tab S everyday for a few years now. Bought 3 of them for the family, and all three are still going strong. Firmly believe, you get what you pay for.

Skroutz is your friend….

The S2 was a great tablet and still sold here. But, after 4 years, since the S2, samsung tablet prices can’t keep going through the roof, they realize that and they are bringing out 3 new tablets with reasonable prices.

Top of the list is the S5e. About the same performance as the S3 but far cheaper.

For me, its about real estate and battery life. Surfing and reading books\magazines. If i want work done, i invested in a blazing desk top.

I’m singing Samsung praises because they earned it.

Same here. I have the smaller 8.4” variant of the Tab S and it is still running great. My extended family has ~ 20 Samsung tablets in various models, no-one has had any problems.

Samsung S5e is not a budget tablet…

I would agree that S5e is not a budget tablet.

With that said, you may want to specify what your budget is. Everyone’s definition of “budget” is different.

A long time ago, the Nexus 7 was a really good budget tablet.

The good version is the 2013 version, a.k.a. 2nd Edition.

I got one for $100 brand new.

A year later, my sister got one for $120 brand new.

Here's one I found on Google Shopping surprisingly cheap:

Disclaimer: I've never bought from bonanza before.

Budget ones, hmm. Definitely you can’t call Samsung as a budget.
I have 2 Chinese tablets, Chuwi Hi10 Plus (4 x 64 Win10 & Android), and Xiaomi pad 4 plus 4 x 128 Android). One cost me 150$, another 310$. In general no issues with both of them. Chuwi is very weak on receiving wi-fi signal, no much memory allocated for android and not so pretty looking as Xiaomi.
Budget with 2Gb ram, must be for specific task. I think all you need to look there is processor and a battery.

i agree mipad 4 is best budget tablet under 200$, it has quite a lot performance, can handle any tasks you throw into it

there is also mipad 4 plus, same as mipad 4, but bigger screen and battery

if you go higher, well, ipad 2017 is the tablet you want
from 300$ to over 500$, ipad is the win, there is no android tablet can compare

And no matter from where you get ’em, consider ’em disposable.

Okay, so you get one and it’s defective/scratched/used/DOA. Ship it back (for about as much as you paid for it), and you’ll get back a refurb which also may or may not work.

“Customer service” for phones, tablets, laptops, etc., is pretty much nonexistent. You pays yer money and you takes yer chances.

At least getting it from a local big-box store, you can go back and harangue the staff/manager ’til you get a replacement.

I’ve used an Amazon Fire off and on for a while; seems to be OK.

Absolutely agree.

My life depends on a phone. My properties depend on a phone.

It won’t be a budget phone from China Inc

Nor any of my tablets.

@jpil
Have a look at Simbans TangoTab 10 Inch Tablet ,it may be something worth looking at.

I can’t even remember the model no of my Samsung. OOOld.
Pre S2 and a couple b4 it. Never missed a beat.
Use it rather than a Laptop nowadays when we go O’Sea.
Linked with phone and local sim.
Gives contact home from anywhere plus mails.
We go O\S every other yr now.
used to be every yr, for a coupla 3 months.

What I’m saying is. You get what you pay for.
more with electronics than most things.
Reliability and efficiency cost.

Samsung have a fair price for a fair. PROVEN long term reliability product.
2 tablets. ALL phones. TV’s and Modems. for last 20 yrs or more.

Can you say that about any others.
Chinese … I wouldn’t trust them (yet) for reliability,
regardless of any super output reviews.

BUDGET… Really. starts when you reach the point of decent quality.
reliability and performance. Regardlesss of the price point.

Anything UNDER that.

IS FALSE ECONOMY.
You WILL regret. sooner than later.

I just checked out the products. There is a Samsung Tab A 10.1 (2019), it’s listing for $299 here so it may be $229 USD.

My old Tab A 10.1 is a great tablet and the new one is twice as fast. IF it’s $229, it’s a STEAL

Amazon Fire tablets go on sale often here in the US. Those prices are:

7”- $30
8”- $50
10”- $100

They work well for some things. If you want Google Play store, you have to go through some hoops to install it, but it’s possible.

During my longer stay in Hospital i bought a Samsung Tab A 10.5 cheap. And i am very happy with it. Surfing, watching movies, reading PDF magazines. . . a huge + is the big battery. But 32GB flash is not up to date. 64GB would have been ok. Now a SanDisk Extreme 400GB solved the issue.
