FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Undoubtedly true.

I know this was answered, but i don’t remember the answer; if the clip ring sticks out from the body of the light, or is in some other way undesirable, can it be removed? Will the light function without it? I would personally prefer just an O ring in the gap to that clip.

In fact, here is tatasal’s post saying it was Titanium Grey. Hopefully…… LT has not gone rouge since that time & changed it. And yep…. the ‘hole’ leaves much to be desired.

It is. As candor says, the picture on the box probably implies it is fit and finish.

Hopefully you’re right, Teacher. Hopefully titanium grey is not in the eye of the beholder. We will, and again I should add hopefully, know all soon, when the samples are received. Anticipation.

“Hopefully” is definitely the ’key word’ cabfrank. I think/guess that is the best we can do at this point…… hope.
Time will tell……

Please cancel my 4 units.

Thank you in advance.

I think this new clip design is probably final.

Note that even the picture of the FW3A on the box under the light clearly shows both holes in the clip.

That said, I don’t much care either way. If I keep a clip on a light, it’s usually to serve as an anti-roll device. I never actually clip my lights to anything.

That clip really looks bad ………. hope theres an alternative that ‘resembles’ the original

  • sand back clip
  • solder over hold (weld?)
  • sand back again
  • polish to mirror finish
  • profit?

Maybe Lumintop will make an aftermarket clip with the older design, people can buy for a couple dollars and swap into their lights.

I can’t imagine why they would do that. Why not just keep the clip as it was if they were going to do that?

Oh yeah, now I remember.

I didn’t think the clip was removable….

Heck… after thinking more about the clip, I’m at the point where if it is…

  • Stainless with some type ‘color’… I don’t care.
    ———- I don’t like it, I’ll recolor it.
  • Titanium that has been anodized…… I don’t care.
    ———- I don’t like it, I’ll redo it.
  • Plain Stainless… fine.
  • Raw Titanium…. no problem.
  • Painted Stainless…. I’ll strip it & give it a Scotch Brite finish.
  • Painted Titanium…. I’ll strip it & anodize it.
  • If it were to be some metal that will rust that has been painted…. I will be extremely sad.

Might or might not do anything with that “bonus hole” in the clip they ’apparently’ have blessed us with at no extra charge.

Of course this is all speculation at this point, only time will tell.
But…… I do have a plan.

Just hoping all other aspects of the FW3A “are a fit”.

If they are…. just make it happen LT.

Oh I’m still down for my two. I just might have to change it a little, depending on how it actually turns out in prod.

Okay, just realized the clip is painted black. I just thought it was some weird reflection maybe. Why on earth would you do that? It looks nasty.
As for the hole in the tip of the clip: It’s also there in the original renderings in the first post. Maybe they thought they are doing something good?

But why a black clip? I don’t get it. Isn’t that an extra step for them to produce too?

You asked 5 days ago. The last update on the list was 5 weeks ago.

If the clip isn’t stainless steel, it could be a conversion coating like black oxide or parkerizing.

Hi TK! I haven’t received a reply to the PM I sent you a couple days ago.

I have a triple MCPCB loaded with 219B sw45k R9080 emitters waiting to be mailed to everyone’s favorite BLF member.

Yes, it should work fine. At least, mine does.

As you mentioned, it’d be a good idea to put an O-ring in its place, because it’ll have a gap otherwise and that feels weird to hold. It shouldn’t affect function though. It’ll just roll easily.
