I shoot a video of SP70 with my Xiaomi Mi8 smart phone
Thanks for the pictures Barry. Does Sofirn know when the light will be on Amazon US?
Thatās why I think the BLF Q8 has a much more useful beam. Warmer and floodier.
Both the Sofirn and Airpro have the cooler spotlight beams that areā¦ meh.
Thatās why if you want/need a thrower, get a dedicated thrower (L2, SP70, etc.). Donāt think Q8s were designed as throwers. Might be wrong, butā¦
The stock BLF Q8 has a throw-cd/output-lm ratio of 13, that makes it not a thrower. A common up-to-date C8 with XP-L Hi does 100, six times better (the first GT is 500 even). But with the many super-flooders with multi-TIRās today, the Q8 is pretty throwy in comparison.
Imagine thatā¦ a Q8 with replaceable 20mm/26mm TIR lenses instead of reflectors.
/\ .
Ground-to-ground distance of flashlight to opposite building (as per Google Maps) is about 120 meters.
I estimate around 150 meters or so diagonal distance (Iām shining upwards from a lower level)
Sofirn SP70 (XHP70.2, ā5500ā lumens) beamshot
comparing it with beamshot of Sofirn Q8
Sofirn Q8 (4x XPL-Hi CW, ā5000ā lumens)
and also comparing with the BLF Q8:
BLF Q8 (4x XPL-HD NW 5000K, ā5000ā lumens)
The vidoes are not taken at the same time (different night), but the flashlight and camera is positioned in the exact same place (give or take a few centimeters) for the beamshot.
everydaysurvivalgear:I think we will see more throw than the Q8 maybe double once we test it.
That non-english review video earlier showed his lux numbers. The numbers themself seem off, but the comparison seems valid. The SP70 has more distance than the xpl-hi Sofirn Q8.
Sofirn Q8 - 65kcd
SP70 - 85kcdMy Sofirn Q8 measured 120kcd
Sofirn measured the SP70 at 150kcd. They also seem to get conservative lux measurements for some reason.Anyway, it should throw further than the Sofirn Q8, but probably not double.
I was really hoping to have all the measurements before it went on sale. Mine is still in transit. Sorry about that everyone.
Just to add:
Guy in review sad that this SP70 is prototype.
Mine is close, USPS says today's the due delivery date but that ain't happening, should be tomorrow.
I wish you guys would stop comparing this thing to a Q8. This was supposed to be compared to a Convoy L6, and supposed to out throw it with the larger head.
I feel like weāre comparing apples to oranges which makes me wonder about the design of the reflector.
Got mine yesterday. The finish is not quite Matt. Output on turbo in a ceiling bounce test comfortably beats my Olight X7 and is about 10% brighter than my SP36. its about double the output of my D4s. I would say 7k lumens is reasonable.
What batteries are you using?

I would love to see a comparison between the L6 and SP70 although the greater known output of the SP70 already gives it the edge.
I plan to compare it to my hotrodded L6 with SMO reflector. We will see if a bigger textured reflector beats a smaller SMO reflector.

YES! I would love to see this thing beat a hotrodded L6. Thatās a comparison worthwhile!
Does the SP70 have a step down function if itās been on turbo too long and itās getting hot?
BTW, thanks to all for contributing their videos, pictures, and input!
This light is looking like a steal for the price!
Does the SP70 have a step down function if itās been on turbo too long and itās getting hot?
Yes, itās supposed to have Advanced Thermal Regulation. Itās something that Sofirn designed in the UI. I donāt know the details on it.

Keeppower 6000mah
Quickly compared SP70 with L6 ,bigger hotspot than L6 and noticeably brighter.

According to the manual the SP70 will reduce its output once the driverās temperature exceeds 60Ā°C. So, you should be safe running it on turbo.

Can you post pics of your lightā¦ā¦
