Got mine…cant wait to get home…

Mine is at the Post Office to be delivered tomorrow (Wed)

cool. package sent to Jason will arrive soon too.

pictures and video of SP70 sharing is welcome!

Guess it’s time to talk about a BLF version. maybe: retaining ring, smooth reflector, different tint, no switch tail cap, Anduril firmware?

Retaining ring? By all means, YES!!! Please stop using glue! :-D

SMO reflector? Oh yeah...isn't that what we ever wanted from the very beginning? ;-) Maybe there's a chance to test a bit about the correct alignment of the LED on the z-axis? If you put the XHP70.2 less deep into the reflector aperture you might loose a bit of lumens but you will probably avoid the ugly tint shift "fried egg" effect as the blue light coming out sideways of the LED will not hit the reflector surface.

Different tint? That's for sure. I guess many of us would prefer a warmer tint between 4.000K and 5.000K, someting like 3D (4.885K) would be just fine to me.

No switch tail cap and Andúril? As Andúril will not (yet) work with tactical tailswitch lights it might be a nice option to offer it as side-switch only or maybe to put enough efforts in it to adapt Andúril fully working with both switches.

+1 :+1:

We need a BLF edition for sure. As much as I want a SP70, I would rather wait to purchase a BLF edition.

I have 2 of the current SP70’s, guess I will have to buy another “BLF Version”. I’m sure there will be plenty of time to save for it.

Well, if they make the SMO reflector available as a separate buy, then I'm good to go with the original. Anduril requires a driver change - that may be a major issue. Like I said before, they appear to have a superior design to our conventional FET+7135's, but they use a PIC controller and not an ATMEL ATTiny, so not sure what it would take to get Anduril (or NarsilM) ported - might be something like DEL's buck driver support we did for the GT, not sure, should be do-able though I would think.

Great light so far, check my vid out.

Mine is now ordered from Amazon US with a code (thank you Sofirn). As mentioned previously in the thread, PM Sofirn to get a code.

For the BLF Special, my preference would be for NarsilM/Anduril with the rear switch, serving as a lockout switch. My L6 has rear-switch lockout as well, though with D4 firmware.

Can’t wait to get mine and post pics. I am tempted to get a BLF edition, but I just overdosed on throwers, lol.

I'm really tempted to simply hand wire in a ATtiny85 and see if I can get NarsilM working. I see two output channels - the FET and the 3 legged part, like a regulator but don't know the specs of the part. I've done this before with a 1 channel driver and got it working, just had to sacrifice the reverse polarity protection diode:

I would not call this light a thrower. The hot spot is big and lights up a large area.

If this size light had a smaller xhp35-HI in it, then I would call it a thrower.

Exactly Jason, we get all excited about brute forcing some lumens down range but in reality, even a small dedicated thrower can reach a lot further. The big die is at a huge disadvantage that way.

I had this light out the other night - it's scary in the neighborhood. The wide spill can light up a house 200 feet away like daylight, then the spot lights up a huge area with an intensity that's insane. 900+ meters is a thrower to many, but being that the spill and hot spot are so wide, it does a lot more than throw.

I recall the debates over the L6 being a thrower or not, while this light throws better with more total output, wider spot and spill. Well, it sure ain't a flooder.

I got mine, in the rain… box was somewhat beat up but it’s packed well so no issues.

With a pair of Molicel P26A 18650’s in it I see 6090 lumens in my calibrated light box. This after playing around a little with it, so not fresh charged fully topped off cells.

Twice now, sitting in standby, it just suddenly came on in Turbo! Once I laid it on the bed and within a couple of seconds it came on just laying there. And while writing this I picked it up in standby and it came on by itself! What’supwiththat?

Edit: And a third time, this time I’m holding it, in standby, moving it around and looking for how it happened and nothing, then suddenly, while holding it still, On! Something isn’t right here, for sure, good thing it has the tail switch lockout!

That could happen if there's a momentary cut in power, because from power up, it goes to last used level, and if in ramping you ramped up to max, last used is max. Maybe something flaky in the tailcap? Intermittent ground connection?

Gravity + not good connection with series batteries?

8300 start lumens on a pair of 30T’s.

Edit: I can’t duplicate the sudden on with 21700’s in place, so yeah, it’s probably the battery contacts with the short Molicel 18650 flat tops. I’ll check it out, do spring bypasses, see what’s shakin…

The reflector seems to be fine, it’s deeper than the pictures made it look, the orange peel is the large variety not small/fine, but it works well so I can’t complain at this point. Overall it seems quite well made which is really no surprise from Sofirn.

Bypassed the springs top and bottom with 20ga Turnigy wire, now on fully charged 30T’s it does a start value of 8940 lumens.

Makes sense Dale to what I'm seeing - 8640 @start with the 2070C cells. 30T's should do better.
