Convoy BLF Discount?

I want to buy a Convoy S2+ UV flashlight and a ZWB2 filter from Simon at AliExpress. It would probably cheaper elsewhere, but I would like to support Simon. I also would like to get the 15% discount that he graciously gives to BLF members. The problem is that I’m not sure how to do this. I’ve searched and read numerous previous posts, but still don’t quite understand it.

Apparently I need to send Simon a message. And this needs to be paid through PayPal, correct? I see how I can send Simon a message through AliExpress, but how does he know my PayPal account?

Is this where I contact Simon?

Can someone walk me through this process, please?

I think you simply place your order, but do not pay for it.

Then, send Simon a message and he’ll adjust your invoice, then you can pay for your order.

See J-Dub74’s post here.

Yes, I read that post and it does not make sense to me. This is what is says:
“You just have to click the “buy” link and then send him a message through the Ali system asking for the BLF discount and telling him if you want to use PayPal.”
What is the “buy” link? Is that what I’ve shown above and is that where I send him a message?

I just asked Simon for discount as BLF member once, but normally I ask to mix materials (different LEDs) or even to put the Biscotti driver in a flashlight.

Normally I contact him before placing the order to see if there is any problem on my “different” request, and he answers in a day or two, very briefly! To communicate, I use the button that you indicate in your photo.

Simon’s answer is normally positive about the requests, and only after his answer I place the order.
Sometimes the prices need to be adjusted, so Simon does that, I receive a message that the prices were adjusted and they I pay.
I usually pay through the Card(s) associated to AliExpress account, not PayPal. Although Simon uses PayPal, as said in several threads here.

My advice for you, specially because this is their holiday week, is to contact him before placing the order, present as BLF member and ask for discount and then explain what you want to order.
After he answers, follow the normal way to make an order

I also want to clarify that if you ask Simon for a discount and it is granted, it is not necessary to use PayPal as payment. You can use the regular AliExpress payment system. However if you do want to use PayPal, ask him about it when you ask for the discount, as others have stated.

Yea, Jdub’s post is a little vague. Step-by-step:

1. Once you have the items in cart, you click “Buy from this seller” or “Buy all”.
2. Then on the next page, under “Payment method” you must select the option “Other payment methods”.
3. Click “Confirm & Pay”, which should put the order into the AliExpress system.
4. Then message Simon about your order number. Wait for response.
5. Pay (I use AliExpress system, so cannot advise on Paypal procedures)
6. Wait x weeks
7. Enjoy

Hum, I guess that the “confirm and pay” must me done after price adjustment by Simon, otherwise he’ll pay the normal price!
Before there was the option to “place order”, that was what I used when I asked him for order adjustments.
Maybe through chosing “other payment methods” you can place the order without paying and then wait for Simon’s reply, and only then, make your payment.
I also use AE system, so maybe you can ask Simon about PP

This is how I understood it as well, but I have experienced it differently. Basically I put everything in the basket, and let’s say total price is $59.64 for several items. The only reason I put it in the basket is to know the total amount before discount.
Then I message Simon and tell him the total price for the items and ask for 15% discount, which means $50.70. I also include my name and address. When Simon approves he gives you his Paypal account, and you transfer the amount. Simon receives the money and knows what to send to whom.
So this means I ordered from him him without completing/using the Aliexpress payment method.

It’s probably easier for Simon when you actually place the order and then contact him, so that he only has to adjust the amount, and when he has done that, you pay the adjusted amount.

That’s how I always did to order from him. Absolutely no problems thus far.

Thanks for the info everyone. I’m fine not going thru PayPal so I followed the steps korpzgrinda listed. The pay with “Other payment methods” was key for me. That put the order into the system and then I was able to message Simon about the order. Makes sense that it would be easier for Simon to adjust the price with an actual order in the system. Now I’m waiting for Simon to respond back.

I didn’t know about the usual process, so I just asked him about the price for an L6 while I was contacting him about a different issue, then he gave me his PP email and everything was sorted without going through the order process. But if it’s easier for Simon, and since I more or less know what a light will cost with discount, I’ll try the way that has been suggested next time I get something from his store.

Personally, out of respect for Simon, I don’t ask for the 15% discount.

Simon responded back with a succinct “Please check” and I see the order has been given the BLF discount. I then paid with a credit card thru the AliExpress system. I’m looking forward to receiving another flashlight from Simon. I would prefer to pay a little more (even with the BLF discount) to support Simon and to know that I’m getting a genuine Convoy flashlight.

Glad to see that it worked out.

Yeah, I was tempted to mention that, but didn’t want to sound preachy.

I asked how much for S2+ pills, that I was going to place an order but didn’t see them listed anywhere, and he offered to throw in a few for free. Really nice of him, I didn’t have the heart to ask for a discount…

Just did an order on Convoy’s store, I was able to select Paypal at checkout, with a $4.00 immediate discount for using Paypal

(I did not ask Simon for BLF discount though, this was for a $20 order)

Was this discount by Aliexpress for making a first order or was it a paypal discount? Or are all 20+ dollar orders discounted by Aliexpress (because that wasn’t the case for my orders)?

Thanks!

It was not my very first order on AX. Not sure if all orders using Paypal are discounted yet.

I messaged Simon a couple of days ago to ask him how I could pay with PayPal on Aliexpress and still getting the discount.

He said it couldn’t be done through Aliexpress and I should write him what items I needed. Than he could calculate the price and I could transfer him the amount through PayPal directly.

Aye, the Ali system doesn’t allow for these very specific discounts. And the method you mentioned, as I said, is the one I always use; the only thing that it doesn’t give me is an invoice for the specific product I ordered, and I really don’t miss it.
