*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

How much will it slide now? All the weight is hanging down, so it will center itself on the bail (thank you for learning a new word :D).
I don’t see it sliding around much, had DBSAR tested this before?

I have many lanterns with the metal hoop-type bail, i never really had much of a problem with then on nails or cords. (unless you try to deliberately hang it on one side on something grippy like a rubber coated hook, they mostly center themselves. adding a protrusion will have it stick out (like a protrusion) when the bail handle is down though, and probably more of a hindrance when packing it in a a soft bag or case.

Shipping is usually free due to the US government subsidizing the shipping, not China.

I’m hoping the bail is easily removable so it can be replaced with paracord.

It seems that you will have to drill one hole vertically on both side, to meet the existing horizontal drilling made for the bail, if you need the paracord to go through the top part.

It will be removable. Once i receive the test unit i will be looking at the bail to paracord options.

Put me down for a second one please. (Initial request is 1082 on the list)

I’m intersted in 1.
Thanks!

Please add me to the list for one! Looks very cool!

I can’t resist anymore. I’ll take one.
All I wanted was a simple flashlight but ended up with FF E07, FW3A on the way and now this…
Some kind of thrower will be a next step I guess :person_facepalming:
Kudos to DBSAR. I feel like this will spark a revolution in lantern industry.

It already has done that. I’m sure that the advanced UI with tint ramping of the Zanflare F1 was directly inspired by this thread.

Interested, please add me to the list for 1. Thanks

That was the intention of designing & building this lantern. As i spent weeks traveling in areas with no electricity, camping, expeditions, wilderness explorations, back-woods search & rescue operations at base camps needing reliable portable area lighting from dusk to dawn non-stop, i got frustrated in the lack of a good off-grid/light lanterns available on the market that didn’t have any good run times on higher light outputs, any good modes, lack of good CRI tints, all are made out of plastic, used heavy, leaky, alkaline batteries that were always dead after storage and ruined many lanterns, the list goes on with the lacking of features for a good 360 degree light source.

Between the FW3A and this it looks like I got back on this forum at the right time.

I’m in. Thanks

I am excited about this lantern! Thanks for all the hard work everyone put in.
I am almost ready to put my name in for another one just because I know the first person I show it to is going to want mine!

I have heard this come up a couple of times and it’s not a huge deal, but it is easy to fix.
The logo lettering needs to be all the same font/boldness. The “B” and the “1” are inconsistent with the other letters.
It says a lot for this project if the only thing being pointed out is some lettering in the logo!

If I recall correctly, a test unit shipped to you, I’m guessing from China. Any idea when you will receive it? As is expressed often, I’m really looking forward to this lantern.

The logo font can be altered if the manufacturer can do the change easily. ( the original was a font i don’t remember, but below are two alterations using fonts in Adobe Illustrator - Photoshop. We can use one of these that seems to work using a single font type. (all uppercase)

Barry mentioned one was shipped to me a few days ago, but i’m awaiting for the tracking number. (i have no delivery date estimation at this time, but as soon as i know or receive it i will post here.
