It sounds like the main hurdle for this project is a matter of electrical engineering, finding a way for BLF code to run on an AA boost driver. Anyone got info about how to do that? Or even detailed info about the driver used on the current model?
If that effort isn’t successful, a simpler task would be to make the light 14500 only. That should be relatively easy to do in this light.

Can you check with Barry et al about the possibility of TIR optics? I’m unsure of the use-cases people may have for it, but in a smaller host, I’d assume it’d be for closer-up work rather than throw, so smoothing the beam out with TIR might be good.
TIR would be nice on this light
If its not postible, OP ;-P
For everyone worrying about it turning on in your pocket, have you ever used Anduril? It's electronic lockout is miles ahead of any other I've used. 4 clicks for lockout, and the confirmation flashes are very short.
Compared to something like an Emisar D4 or D1 which has 6 clicks and several long flashes that feel like an eternity.
No, with Anduril, E-lockout is a daily used feature for me.
Combine that with fancy lockout moon mode, which when in lockout, let's your first click be moon, and your second click be a more reasonable brightness of your choosing, all the way up to turbo if you choose.
This way you are much more likely to use your light for brief periods of time without unlocking it. Super duper useful.
I have my EDC D4 with Anduril in my pocket with the first click set to moon and the second set to something like 25%.
And I have a D1S in my car, the first click is set to something like 50%, and the second is turbo.
So your not going to catch your pants on fire, you'll be ok

Just to be clear, this is not stock Anduril. People will have to reflash their drivers to get this “fancy lockout moon mode” functionality.

Because AA and 14500 is better then 14500 alone. And I think a AA/14500 BLF driver is long overdue. I really don’t see the point in 14500 only lights. The cells are expensive compared to the power you get and pay fo forr an 18650 cell. aa/14500 compatible lights are great for traveling etc. I mean what’s not to like about an AA and 14500light?
If not compatible with AA NiMh this wil just be another 14500 light like so many others on the market already.

> How does that side switch not activate in one’s pocket?
A click stop at around a quarter turn of the battery tube/tailcap as a way of knowing it’s locked out — would be nice.
Or even a couple or three paint dots on tube and tailcap indicating the lockout alignment.
Or a hot-light thermal cutoff ….
If that effort isn’t successful, a simpler task would be to make the light 14500 only. That should be relatively easy to do in this light.
Yeah, Interested.

I’d buy one if it was available with a 4000K high-CRI emitter.

I would be very interested if the driver was Ni-MH AA compatible.

Interested. Anduril is basically for flashoholics only so I don’t see why this light accepting 14500 would be a problem.

In my country, AA are “just around the corner” while 14500 “nor with a prescription”, we have to import them (for now only Aliexpress sends them).
