New Miboxer C4-12: "Upgrade C4-12"

Thanks hasddie293,

The FB page has the comparison charts I was looking for.

I still wish Miboxer would implement a safety routine for charging LiFePO4 batteries. Like almost any other charger it will always (re)start with the standard charging profile for 4.2V Li-Ion batteries once there is a sudden power outtage. Guess what happens? A 3.6V LiFePO4 battery will be overcharged to 4.2V. So, a simple "press button to start charging" action would suffice to prevent automatic restart (with the wrong charging profile). Certainly, the user would still have to doublecheck if the right profile was chosen.

Alternative idea: How about making the LiFePO4 profile the standard routine, e.g. by a small switch on the bottom side of the charger?

Still no review/test over “Upgrade C4-12” here in Blf, but really2 hope there will be no mess up since older C4-12 perform so well already.

My expectation is that its will perform as the C4-12 except it can handle long battery, lifepo4 and all slots should work well.

1. Who said that this function is no in Upgrade C4-12? Miboxer introduced it else in C2-4000: https://youtu.be/zLCDC-5KV5A
2. LIfePo4 cells are not so easy to bring to an explosion. Charging voltage 4.2v for them is not terrible: https://yadi.sk/i/L_E7cdG4ALoLoQ

at least a charge profile memory would be nice if the charger detects that between shut down and restart the cells were not removed and charge was not complete
that could be implemented with just a few uA standby drain simply keeping monostable circuit held in the not removed position by the battery voltage

but on the other hand its not so wise to keep battery charging unmonitored by the user, a power loss in your living place is with the amount of electrical devices in modern times usually not unnoticed

@mishanchick, they can still catch on fire, just at a higher temperature.

It seems to me that MiBoxer marketers do not specifically make it possible to make a perfect product. Considering the high price, and specifically half from SkyRC 3000, what should they have added at least one slot the function of measuring cell capacity by discharging? And then there would be an almost perfect device. Even Xtar realized that this function was needed and added it to VC4S.

MiBoxer already has one of the best analyzing chargers in the C2-4000, problem is it requires that loud, bulky fan. I’m surprised the VC4S added that and stuck with the stupid voltage dial where you cant accurately tell what voltage your battery is

С2-4000 is out of production apparently, because it is not on sale anywhere.

Lii-500, VC4S had function of discharge… only question of, how will they perform on their discharging style…I heard issue rise one of em.

But if Miboxer added discharge function, it could had jack the price even higher?IDK…

I also consider the price, just a bit on high side though…but I had bought it  . But don’t expect their sale could beat other competitor like XTAR, LIITOKALA, OPUS…

Interestingly, fixed MiBoxer problem 3 slots in the Upgrade C4-12?

Old C4-12 - problem (reviews from BLF)
C4-Plus - problem (reviews from Aliexpress)
C4S - problem (reviews from BLF)

I want to understand - did the MiBoxer engineers work on the bugs, or their problem of the updated C4 series was transferred to Uprgade C4-12 also.
Apparently the quality of products is affected by the fact that it is produced in very small batches.

What is “problem 3 slots”?

Slot 3 stops working after a short time.

For example: MiBoxer C4-12 ~ Bay 3 quit charging. ~Now with more pictures~

Never had a problem with slot #3 with the two C4-12’s I own, and still don’t. Been close to two years. I guess there were 3 people who reported slot 3 not working. I’m sure MiBoxer has sold more than 5 of these.

3 people are just an example of one topic.
Read reviews on Amazon and Aliexpress - many people complain that the 3rd slot stops working almost immediately after purchase.

I also have two C4-12’s used for over a year and a half without a problem

Knock on wood, my original C4-12 hasn’t had any issues with slot 3 either.

Now, as far as using inaccurate IR measurements to automatically select charging current, umm… yeah… Miboxer needs to rethink this one. In some cases it works OK, in other cases, not so much.
