Hello,
I’m not here all that much but appreciate what happens here - I saw the lantern on a reddit post and am very interested.
I’m not sure of the process - but I’d like to be put on the list for one.
If someone would be so kind to let me know if there is a follow up task I should be performing, I’d appreciate it a lot.
Thank you very much, Carl G.

Thanks. I have a Fenix CL25R (which I just saw they discontinued) that works great, but this looks awesome. I love my Q8 so this looks like the next logical thing for me.

That prototype sure looks good. Thank you for the pictures TK.
Hopefully you receive your sample soon DBSAR, the wait must be tormenting
I do have to say the rather heavy frosting was a bit of a surprise after all the prototyping and R&D and talks and so on.
But this is a perfect example why samples are made.
By the way DBSAR, do you have any gear to test the light transmittance of the globe? May even help the communication as I’d expect a flashlight manufacturer to have such a tool to test lenses and whatnot.
These testers are a bit of a niche though as even from China they’re not that cheap, cheapest ones from Linshang Tech are around 70USD just as an example.
How i tested it was using both my lux meter, and the light meter app on my phone. i did measurements at 1 foot & 4 feet with the globe/shade removed completely & LEDs in line of-sight of the meter sensors, then did the same with globe in place. Will do that too in comparison to the V1 & V2 design prototypes to compare it to the production prototype. ( I also have my Lux/Lumens sphere , “Lumens Sputnik” .

The lumen sphere will give the numbers for comparison, if you manage to place the lantern inside, or at least stick the entire cup inside.
Measuring lux from distances will be too sensitive for brightness variations across the beam so it is not representative of total output.

ToyKeeper:
That’s why I’m planning to add a blink when it hits the end. I’d want to add it anyway, because it’s hard to tell where the edge is… but it can also help make the auto-tint thing more intuitive. Hit the edge, keep pushing for a full second, and then it’ll go to auto. Something like that, anyway.
That is certainly another good idea. The other way to tell where the edge is to put the light on turbo/max this way we know that the other channel would not be discarded in the averaging. Blinking is welcomed

Sorry for the confusion, I don’t have a prototype on hand, just a picture from this message to test how the logo with exo2 font would look on it.
