LiionWholesale Batteries/Flashlight/Charger Giveaway (Facebook entry, USA only)

Hey guys, appreciate all the feedback. I honestly had no idea so many don’t use Facebook. With that in mind, in the near future we’ll definitely plan to do some giveaways for BLF only. Glad I posted anyway, otherwise wouldn’t have known.

Hope at least a few people have been able to enter though. Obviously all the people without facebook are posting but I’m not sure if some people have FB and found this useful and if we should continue to post our facebook only giveaways here or not.

Will the winner have to monitor FB to know if they won?

You should get a facebook notification since we’ll send you a message. So you don’t need to be actively checking our post or anything, you should be notified and get a facebook alert. But you do need to see that you got a facebook alert. Does that answer your question?

Yes , thanks. And thanks for the GAW. I have order from you before and have been pleased with everything. Please stock the Shockli 26650 5500 mah.

Facebook BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
USA only BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That’s a great way to turn a lot of people off on this forum, probably having the opposite effect to what you’re after

Thank you for listening to us. That’s much appreciated.

Thanks for doing this Jon & thanks for posting the link to FaceBook.

If people don’t do FaceBook, no biggie… they just don’t participate.

No way to please everyone.

If you decide to do a GAW here on BLF, that will be appreciated to. But it is not expected & please don’t feel ‘roped into it’. :+1:

Edit: And yes, please continue to post your FaceBook give away notices here. I had no idea you even had a FaceBook page until I saw this notice a few days ago.

If some people do not like or use FaceBook that’s fine with me. But reading ’some’ of these comments to you about your announcing your FaceBook GAW here on BLF is just sad. Real sad……

It’s almost like there is a BLF entitlement expectation from some. :person_facepalming:

Am I reading that wrong?? It is sure how a few of these posts come across to me….

Personally I find it very disheartening to look at a GAW thread only to learn I need to register on some external site, especially when I consider such registration to be harmful to me.
ADDED: And when I consider the act of registering to be harmful - being asked to register (in order to get some benefit) feels harmful as well.

I understand that. But every give away thread is not meant for every location or person.

And correct me if I am wrong Agro, but this particular GAW was for “USA Only”…. it did not even apply to you.

The man was trying to do something good for a particular segment of his customer base… he posted it here so that anyone who desired to could participate.

If someone did not qualify (USA only) or does not do FaceBook that’s OK…… but to complain about it (as a very few did) is ridiculous as far as ’I am concerned’.

BLF is most likely not his biggest customer & to act like we “expect” special BLF treatment is somewhat ridiculous on any of our parts.

I think it was nice of Jon to mention this giveaway to us. And for Jon, it was nice to spread awareness of his company's facebook page to an audience. It just so happens that BLF is overlapping with some particular demographics that are less likely to have or trust facebook. I also think it's fine for people to share their opinions of facebook, but I don't think it's really fair to project that onto Jon. Personally, facebook makes me wish I got GDPR protections.

Then it is your choice, as it should be, DO NOT PARTICIPATE in the event or offering. No one is forcing you to.

I just added a line to my previous post at the time that you answered.
“And when I consider the act of registering to be harmful – being asked to register (in order to get some benefit) feels harmful as well.”

This is what makes me backlash against those who try to lure me to some platform that I have problems with. That’s regardless of whether their intensions are actually good.

As to global limitations…I watch USA GAWs, sell threads etc. because I have USA friends who could receive a package and transfer it to my place.
Some GAWs (this one) exclude people who are located abroad, others exclude those w/out USA address. I don’t enter the former (even though in many cases I think they are just crudely worded and the organizer would have nothing against me joining) but I enter the latter.

And that’s what I always choose in such cases. But sometimes (quite often recently) I also choose to express my feelings. Is that a wrong thing to do?

Many small business find FB useful for promotions and other alerts. Don’t have to use it socially for it to be any good. All the tracking and keyboard warriors are a PITA though. All social media could go away and it would be OK with me. Not BLF of course.

Giveaways are better for newbies or people who really need an item and not just another item to hoard for those of us who have far more batteries, chargers, flashlights, knives etc.then they will ever need.
Very rarely will this member participate in them, have enough crap and surely will not jump thru any hoops to qualify.

JMHO,
Hope someone deserving will win what they need.
Thanks to all members and vendors who do go out of their way to do these giveaways, please support them when possible.
I have supported Jon in the past and will continue without any need for a freebie.
Love supporting USA vendors.
Later,

Overstocked Keith

No, it is not wrong that you express your feelings. :+1:

But if someone chooses, out of the goodness of their heart; to do a GAW in a certain way on a certain forum or social media platform…. that is not wrong either.

It is that persons GAW to conduct as they please, and they should be able do do so guilt free.

I’m like Muto, I do not need any more “stuff”, I have an over abundance. :person_facepalming:
If I did enter & win I would give it to a neighbor or have the vendor ship it to someone else who could really use it.

But, I was glad to find out Jon (LiIon Wholesale) had a FaceBook page since that is just another avenue to receive notification when they are having a sale.

LiIon Wholesale is & has been my “go to battery supplier” for some time now & will continue to be.

So whut’s a facebook? I mean, aside from a place where people post intimate details about their lives for all the world to see which they’d scream to High Hell if someone else were to post without their permission, that is.

I vaguely recall creating a fake account æons ago, back when I was playing The Bubble Witch, and don’t think I’ve even gone to that site since.

Unno. I just don’t see the appeal. :confounded:

 … Different folks for different folks I guess. What you mentioned is surely true LightBringer… that some do that. And that part of it has always amazed me… and not in a good way. :person_facepalming:
But it is & can be more than that also…. for some anyway.

I agree but have reservations that some of what we do here is not similar to FB.

Giveaways started here by members giving out of the kindness of their hearts .A free flashlight with zero strings attached .That is vastly different than what a vendor is doing when hosting a giveaway on BLF .Since they have much more to gain I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to participate in the same way as an individual .

Every single Facebook designed GAW get hammered by members so It's nothing personal. A basic search on BLF will prove there is no malice on members parts. My question is where is Wolfdog ?? A good neighbor would have let Jon know that doing a Facebook GAW on BLF is bound to result in lots of members giving you a thumbs down .

It seems like the quicker you let a vendor know it's a horrible idea the more likely that they will change their strategy since their objective is to GAIN.....where a members motivation is to GIVE.

BLF members ARE entitled in my opinion. Membership has it's privileges and also it's responsibilities .

So in my opinion ... if you think members here think they are entitled .....Prove that they aren't by starting a giveaway .

Anyone adding stupid hoops that people need to jump thru ...like having to join a social media that has major privacy issues and you can rest assured members here won't quietly put up with it

I think Jon is probably a great guy who runs a nice business (I've bought from him ) ..But he's here on our turf , in our sandbox .Like every vendor who joins he should know what members here want or don't want .clearly if he knew this ahead of time he wouldn't have thrown himself and his business into the lions den .Facebooks widely hated here on the forum and I doubt he was looking for negative promotion. I agree members shouldn't act like spoiled children but I also think supporting a bad idea ..is a bad idea .
