Just incase you weren’t aware:
Acebeam is a 100% based & manufactured Chinese company. (it can appear they’re US or other high end brand due to their extremely high prices)
Acebeam released the X70 last year which trumped the 53,000 lumen Imalent MS12 with 60,000 lumens
Acebeam also produced the X80 with 25,000 lumens then the X80GT with 32,500 lumens
Since the battle began, Imalent rushes to market first but Acebeam has always answered back shortly after with something that trumps the Imalent product.
Acebeam originally announced the X70 at 45,000 lumens here on BLF and then prior to the official launch the MS12 dropped with 53,000 lumens. Out of nowhere the Acebeam official launch was boosted to 60,000 lumens
That said, I will be shocked if they have a hidden warhead that eclipses 100,000 lumens. I’m also really excited though, because the only company willing to take lumens to these levels have been Imalent and Acebeam. The battle is what’s driven the insane output leaps in just a few years
Looks like fw over protecting the leds. Someone need to highlight this to Imalent. It is no fun if user can’t indulge in turbo output again after short rest.
Well you actually could reactivate turbo. However I just want the flashlight to have active temperature regulation such that it is capable of finding a stable equilibrium output on its own
Active temperature regulation will be slow in response to external temperature change because the heat generated internally in turbo mode is very high and in very fast way.
I wish Imalent let user turn off temperature protection, or set a higher temperature limit for flasholics, let us control it ourselves. I used to feel the temperature with my hand. When it is very hot to hold, it is time to switch off and level down.
Yes well aware of Acebeam being Chinese, which is what i meant, so many good lights are only possible being made from china, Made in USA? Not even remotely practical cost wise.
But Acebeam have neglected their high output thrower for too long. The x65 is old now & they should have put out something better.
Another thing that I hate about the lumen wars is they are all using cool white just to get higher lumens, You would think these two big company’s with such monster outputs could just sacrifice a small % output 7 give the option of neutral white.
I should have not worried about that. My two Imalent DT35 are so hot in 60 seconds and I don’t see any step down. Imalent engineers know it has to be very hot to get to real 100k lumens.
Keep waiting, and it will step down. You will see a blinking triangle sign on the oled display, and it will step down to something like 1500 lumens on the display.
Now I remember seeing some warning sign, but I can’t remember was it battery low or temperature too high though. I switched them off when I saw the warning. It rarely occurred as I top up batteries in day time. I believe it will step down, looks like its step down temperature is above my tolerance.
I imagine there is some temperature tolerances in whatever sensor they’re using (there certainly is in NarsilM drivers due to the ATtiny 25, 45 and 85 MCU’s). So the temperature the Imalents read could very well be 5 to 10 degrees higher or lower and what it actually is. Temperature step down in flashlights is usually not an exact science.
I think Imalent did rrlease a NW version of the MS12 afterwards. However, they probably wonder why it didnt sell as well as the CW version and decide to not make anymore NW versions. The problem is everyone who wants this light already bought the CW during initial release. They need to release both CW and NW simultaneously to see which is more preferred.
All i know about CW from my small output leds is they give a cold lonely feel over NW. But who knows with these levels of output.
The blue box reminds me of something you see with high end headphones. Good on em, going for that limited edition feel. Is it velvet or something? Personally id like a stainless case mirror polished with a fine subtle brushed look.
To my eyes the front view of the reflector looks gorgous on the r90 series.
Would be good if imalent offered custom colours. For a light like these.
