I am really liking this lite.
I too wonder why there is no glass lens, did we all miss this omission in the when buying, or just assumed?
Anyway, I like the UI, except for some getting used to and echo the comments of BurningPlayd0h which I noticed also, but maybe just getting use to?
The tail Magnet is the strongest I have seen in any similar light so far which is great, but respect it or you might end up with a drag scratch.
The packaging is nice and professional and although I have not tried out the carry pouch it looks quality constructed and sturdy nylon.
Although it is plenty bright, I would have preferred the throw to be a bit longer for my preference, but it seems accurate to claims of 140m distance.
(for some years now, the Olight S80 baton has been a favorite of mine in this size catagory and I am forced to compare all other lights to which has a 250m range)
Just received my light today - build quality is definitely very good with a solid feel to the light. The knurling does feel a bit slippery to the fingertips, but between the knurling and the belt clip the grip ‘in hand’ is actually very good. Charging worked well with a randomly-chosen Micro USB cable rather than the included one. I’ll have to try the power bank feature later; including the multi-use cable is a nice touch.
The optic does seem to have the two broken off legs, but absolutely doesn’t interfere with operation. I will have to make some time to take this light out with me in the next evening or two to get a good sense of how it throws, but the beam seems very smooth against nuetral-coloured walls in a two-minute cycle through the modes.
The afterglow of the phosphor caught me by surprise, but as soon as I saw it I recalled a note from someone else on the thread that it was very noticeable. Not a problem at all, just a ‘thing’ with this light. The TO46R doesn’t do this, but it’s different emitters.
No issues with delivery to Western Canada, but it was slow to get here - almost a month from notice of delivery from Jason at Wuben.
Canada Post are very good for showing bad tracking information and getting me worried.
First impressions
- Excellent quality. This is my first Wuben and I’ll admit I was not expecting that quality machining. Pleasantly surprised.
- First LH351D light. What a fantastic tint and color rendition. I think I prefer it to 219B
- Light gets very hot if left untouched on high (not turbo) for a couple of minutes. This is kind of worrying. I think it should step-down because it was to a point where it was uncomfortable to pick-up and hold
- The TO50R is heavy. Quite heavy. Weight and size makes it not too EDC friendly. It’s not a GT but still, not my first choice for EDC. It’s more a backpack light than a pocket light.
- Beam is absolutely perfect, a massive flood, no hotspot at all. Beam is similar to a D4 with Nichia. If I had to choose, I think I would prefer a narrower beam to gain a bit of throw
- UI is good. I have a personal preference on single button UI but it’s still very easy and intuitive to use
- My level button is hard to push. After a couple of seconds on the momentary turbo, my tired finger tends to release the switch
Power bank function is a great feature for emergencies
-The clip is what all clips should be
So far, very satisfied with it.
If I had one feature I could add, I would have liked the possibility to have the light switch always on to use as a bedside flashlight locator.
I linked a carclo compatible mcpcb from MtnE you can set up as 4s 4p or 2s2p. I had planned to try it but the stock optic is good enough and with no glass lens I lost the urge to try
