New WildTrail (former LuckSun) BLF-D80v2 Sale is open.

Do we have any idea how much it will cost?

I asked for a ~price. But because they are using some new tooling in production it could be difficulte to set the price now. Possible they have to wait and see how much they have to scrap.
When i get a price i will put it in the first post.

I think there is an important upgrade for the new D80. Taking mine apart I noticed there is a oring between the bezel and the glass, but no oring between the bezel and the head.

@will34
There should be no o-ring between the bezel and the glass.
I checked one of my old D80. The o-ring should be between the glass the head and the reflector.
To see how it will look on the new D80 please check the first post (New WildTrail (former LuckSun) BLF-D80v2 Sale is open.).
They also shorten the front a tiny bit so the o-ring gets compressed right. This way it should seal real nice.

LS is almost ready with testing.
The driver is a sample driver (they told me the final driver will have a better quality PCB).
They get 7,2A @4V (with a Chinese 13Amp continious discharge cell) with the SST-40.
This means we are getting closer to production.

Wow, these springs look dope.

Really nice. 7,2A is close to threshold though.

If i understand it right, the tail spring will have a thicker wire. And the smaller driver spring will have the ledwire soldert at the battery contact point (so not much current will go through the driver spring).
But we can see that they really do their best to give us a way better D80 than the old one.

If we could choose a color for the new D80, what would you like to see? They will most likely not offer different colors. But maybe we can influence them a bit if there is a clear preference.

Damn. Nice.

Perhaps a black and deanodized light would be great.

Ask them if they could do copper plated lights.

Would cost quite a bit more, but still less than a pure copper light.

Are we worried about killing SST40s with FET drivers?

This should be great. I would vote for any color other than black, if we have a choice.

If the FT03 isn’t killing LEDs this probably wont either.

As for the material/color LuckySun actually does Stainless, Titanium, Colored Anno, etc so we should shoot for the moon here if someone has some good ideas. They might be more willing to try stuff than some other boring brands.

I would prefer just a different color anno, not a more expensive material. That can be saved for a second production run, if, and when, it sells well.

Only the weak ones will die….as it should be….

Does anybody have an estimate of how many lumens we are looking at with the SST-40 at 7.2 amps? This thing should be really bright for a single emitter, right?

I really liked the original color scheme.

@cabfrank
If i check the SSt-40 test from Djozz Luminus SST-40, a N4 BA bin tested we can expect something arround 2200 lumen 7A.
I can not say what the final numbers are. When they tested they eliminated some resistance in comparison to a assembled light (no switch, no springs and no electrical contact points like tube to tailcap. . . .)
Also i have no idea about flux bin of the 5700K SST-40. They are relativly new. Until now you only could get the colder 6500K and above.

The thread title is “what would you like to see”, right? I would like to see a very dark brown anodisation colour. Like my old Shadow tc500. Or a nice thick matt black so that I can bake it to dark brown myself.

Dark brown is nice :+1:
.
.

Is it possible to have a 21700 tube option ?

They started with the production of the tailcaps. Here a very short clip from some tailcaps fresh out of the machine.

Hope to get also some shots from the machining (before and after. . . ).
Also waiting for infos about the available colors.

Nice to see some production vid’s. I tried that for the Q8 when it first came out but as Thorfire was not the manufacturer themselves, I never got much of that.
