BLF A6 FET+7135 Light Troubleshooting and Mod thread

Reading the previous page, that seems to be the general consensus indeed. This particular A6 comes from the EU warehouse so I’m wondering if that means that the entire batch of A6’s they have there are compromised since I’m apparently not the only one with this issue.

So I got in touch with Banggood’s aftersales and they are treating it as a manufacturing defect and are refunding the light. I’ve asked them if their entire batch of A6’s is likely to have this issue, but I’m still waiting to hear back from them. That leaves me with an A6 that needs some TLC. Anyone know where I can pick up a 7135? I’ve looked at Arrow, Farnell, TME and LCSC but haven’t found any yet.

It’s an amc7135 chip, 350mA. Specifically, it should be a raptor-claw brand. I don’t know the name, but that’s the logo it has on the chip. Not a sailboat logo. Stores which sell flashlight drivers might have some, but you might have to buy an entire driver to get the parts. I’m not sure where to get them individually in the EU.

Astrolux S1/BLF A6 driver at banggood

I just figured out that the AMC7135 with the raptor claw / rainbow thingy is the MEL7135PG from “Nanjing Micro One Elec”. I found it on LCSC: MEL7135PG MICRONE(Nanjing Micro One Elec) | C80214 - LCSC Electronics

I’m currently working on putting an order together (unrelated to flashlights) for LCSC / JLCPCB so I’ll pick up 5 or 10 from them. I did search eBay for a bit and there are some 7135s to be found in europe (supposedly) but none of them with the raptor claw, some even use generic SOT89 3d models as the product image. I have good experiences with LCSC so that’ll be the way to go I think.

I thought about that too. However I currently have another order I’m waiting on from BG and it’s taking forever to even ship the thing out. Plus, right now I’m not too confident in BG’s A6 drivers.

Technically, any 7135 chip should work… but people have generally found the raptor-claw ones have relatively fast rise and fall times so they work a bit better with PWM. They’re not the only type which responds well, but out of the ones which are suitable, they’re the easiest to identify.

True, technically they should be near identical. I remember reading a thread about an out of spec 7135 that had issues with lower pwm duty cycles. The real issue with ordering stuff from eBay or AliExpress is that sellers often list all the names the 7135’s go by in one listing, without ever clarifying which one you’re buying.

For instance: 10pcs SMD AMC7135PKFAT MEL7135PG L7135 SOT-89 LED Driver IC

This seller uses the raptor claw 7135 as the main image, and obviously you hope that that is exactly what you get, but you may just end up with an L7135 (which supposedly has problems with lower pwm duty cycles).

Personally I’d rather buy from LCSC where you know exactly what you’re ordering. Shipping still takes a long time, but at least you end up with what you ordered

Hi guys, I got 10 new raptor claw 7135’s in the mail today and after having replaced the one that was on the driver I now only have full (turbo) brightness. Nothing in between. Anything in specific I can take a look at? Is there a schematic available for this driver?

short between LED- and GND somewhere

less possible short between batt+ and FET gate

There is indeed a short, the black wire is directly connected to the ground outer circle somehow. Can quite see where though. Currently googling like a madman trying to find a board file so that I can try to figure this out.

Edit: nevermind, found the short. The FET seems to be shorted out. Going to see if I can find a replacement FET locally, otherwise I might as well just order a new driver from BG (unless there’s a more reputable source out there?).

Here partial gold pcb was detached from driver after my cousin pull up the spring

I have tried to resolder the spring on the part of pcb that was intact.
The Driver shake on their room, this pill is from cometa 2016…
I added 17 to 18mm ring adapter press fit and it raised up

I thinked that the Ground contact was too bad
Outside I pressed and solder 0.5mm unipolar copper wire to increase the ground and fill the gap between the pill and driver

Could the OP update the 1st post with re-uploaded images?

He hasn't logged in for almost five months.

You might have a better chance if you PM him.

Sorry if this is not the perfect thread for this question. I did not want to open another one for it.

Where can I buy this part for the BLF A6? It’s part of the lanyard (I hope that’s the correct term):

Or what would you do/buy to fix it?

You can change the thread.
There is a knot inside the plastic piece.

Yes, it appears that it is a string of nylon wrapped in this black fabric. So I’d have to get something with similar (or preferably better) durability. Hmmm…

Or maybe there are good replacement lanyards that are quite cheap? It’s probably easier to find for someone like me!

BTW, this is the second time this happened in a couple months (for my 2 BLF’s).

I would assume you can find many lanyards at the Chinese sites, Banggood, Ali, Fasttech, etc. You have to decide if you think there is any risk buying there though, with all that is going on in the world right now. Maybe just Google flashlight lanyard, I’m sure many will come up, cheap.

Look at Kevlar or Dyneema cord. They’re both very abrasion resistant. In the US, 15m runs about $12.

Strangely enough, I had already done that, but since I live in Germany, using the German equivalent. Found nothing useful. Did it again, using the English term - found everything I could ask for! In German stores!

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip!
