Martin, great review video comparing all the big boys.
To those who have received these lights,
Is user able to open the fan frame and replace the fan? And is the fan really effective in blowing out hot air?
I had assumed they made the fans easily replaceable by the customer in case one of them should stop working. Imalent could simply send a new fan to the customer which they could easily change as opposed to the customer having to ship their light all the way back to China and then ship it back to the customer again. Is this not the case?
I think it’s fine if the fans are good quality type. I don’t remember having to replace my CPU fan which was on 24hr for years. These two fans are on in short interval.
Imalent has made 1000 watts 100k lumens stock light. Don’t think they would allow user to open and repair it easily as that could be dangerous.
This light and it’s fans are supposed to handle water immersion. CPU fans don’t.
The fans should also be low voltage, so no real safety concerns.
Knowing that the fans are still not easily swapped (I thought the MS18 fixed this issue) my opinion of the design has gone down greatly. It is unfortunate.
What I mean is get wet. Like rained on. This is much tougher than what CPU fans go through so I do not expect them to last very long.
This was Imalents chance to make a nice, user replaceable fan in case it has any issues, but they chose to not do that. When I first saw the pictures of this light I was glad they made the fans easy you swap out. Now I am disappointed. That is all.
Well, my 9year old Panasonic full hd camcorder fan is still working. It has quite a lot outdoor use. And I don’t think this light is useful during rain. It is heavy and expensive. Last thing I want to use it in the rain. It is for fun bursting 100k lumens into darkness. If military or police force ever bought it for night tasks, don’t think they will repair it themselves.
I like that video a lot! I wonder how long it took to make it. I've been thinking of doing a video review besides my written review, but I'm afraid it will take too much time, and I probably need other tools (remote microphone).
