Aliexpress questions...

I used Aliexpress today for the first time. After I created an account and purchased an item it basically said “Sign in and start over”. I signed in and there was nothing in my cart. I was about to purchase the item again but I checked my email and it said that my Aliexpress order was paid so I didn’t reorder it. That’s strange enough but now that I look at the order it says “payment being verified”.

I Googled this and it seems that it takes up to 24 hours for a payment to be “verified”. What’s this about? I check my Visa account and it shows “pending” as well?

Sounds 100% similar to my first experience with Aliexpress. I’d sit it out for a spell it should be ok

Wellp, they seem to be charging sales tax as of recently, so they’re definitely getting weird.

I think I was wondering the same a while ago and if I understood correctly, it is pretty complicated and there is a bunch of brokers or escrows involved.

You add the item to cart and pay with your credit card with your own currency. Aliexpress has a payment processor or merchant account somewhere in the world that handles your particular currency.

The process takes a while and eventually the transaction is cleared and the seller and buyer get a message saying payment was verified.

I never actually get any confirmation about what item was paid. But I guess amazon does that too, they just list 1 item …“and others have shipped.”

So in your case Aliexpress gets the money at this point but the seller won’t get the money until months later when the item is past “delivery period” and “refund protection” expire.

I had the same problem on an order for some 10440 cells and a light. No email confirmation so I thought it was a dead issue. But yesterday I checked my credit card account and it shows that I was charged, then part (the light) refunded. I received the cells yesterday.

Tonight I thought to go back to AliExpress and log in, and there was a message about it. So someone did try to inform me about the light being unavailable.

I haven’t bought from the site in over a year, but I noticed this last night when I purchased a Convoy S11 host from Simon. It bugged me but I made the order anyway (without immediately paying). Then I messaged Simon to ask if it is possible to remove the tax. He said he would mark the parcel value as $10, but he also reduced the actual final sale price to the pre-tax price minus ~10% for the BLF discount! It still showed an amount for the “tax”. That’s probably mandatory in the system, but still… What a guy Simon is! He is absolutely great in all aspects of his business.

He’s wonderful.

Seems AX is a bigger target than FT, GB, or BG. So far.
