Fenix AF02 Bike Mount ALTERNATIVE

Well did not know exactly where to put it. So here it is!!!

I'm looking for a BUDGET alternative (heh its BLF!!) for the Fenix AF02 Bike Mount. Anyone knows of any ebay/dx selling same at a reasonable price preferably less than $10 shipped.

Thanks.

No need to go to DX and wait till Summer to get it. Shopping around you can find these in the $10-12 range just about anytime:

By the way, I've tried this mount once - that's all it took. It is bulky and overly complicated for a bike mount, but I will say it is very secure. So if you have enough real estate on your bars for it and you are doing rough offroad riding, it's the mount for you (I'm assuming MountainKing = MTB? ).

For other types of riding, consider having some of these around:

That was a good read and great review of both mounts. I had already settled on the twofish type mount, because the screws, size and the overall looks of af02 cancelled that out in my book. Just like in the review, both mounts hold securely, and the af02 might even be a little better.

I went a little further as I have stated many times before. I get the twofish knockoffs. IMO, they are just as good. However, you must wait for them. (2 or 3 weeks shipping time) My first order of twofish copies, I ordered 4. They worked out so well, I quickly put in a order for 5 more. BTW, 5 twofish knockoffs cost me $10.50 with free shipping.Wink

I had originally got these to use to mount a couple KDC8s on my downhill bike. They took a ridicules amount of abuse and I never had a light fall off or broke a mount.

cehoward, I have 4 of the DX TwoFakes on the way to add the the 3 or so TwoFish I have now.

MountainKing: Here a pic of some of my best mounts, all tested and highly recommended:

Clockwise from Left:

- TwoFish Cyclopblock. A sturdier version of the Lockblock, works very well with larger lights.
- Swivel head bar mount. Sold at various sites, does surprisingly well as a bar holder if tightened sufficiently, but kind of a pain to put on or remove. Link Here.
- Original TwoFish Lockblock - works equally well on the bar and on a helmet. Does tend to bounce a bit with larger lights. Dealextreme TwoFake version Here.
- Fixed bar mount. Also sold at various sites in different sizes (inside diameter). Very secure mount, but only fits certain lights securely (trial and error) and is also a pain to put on or remove. Link Here.

Here's a few I haven't tried out yet that look promising:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/fenix-bike-flashlight-mount-af02-p-5776 Claims to be a Fenix, not sure if it's real.
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-adjustable-aluminum-alloy-cycling-bicycle-flashlight-torch-mount-holder-black-92149 Not sure about this one - might be an alternative to the AF02.

You will find that there are many, many variations of the above. Through China sites they are very cheap, so I usually include one or two with flashlight orders and try them all out. Junk ones go in the bin, but here's some stinkers you should avoid:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/universal-bicycle-swivel-rubber-mount-for-flashlights-gadgets-p-3344 Loose and bouncy, hard to adjust to fit most lights.
http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/universal-adjustable-bicycle-mount-for-flashlights-169cm232cm-diameter-p-3348 Really crappy version of the Swivel head bar mount above.
http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/universal-bicycle-mount-206cm312cm-diameter-p-3345 This one will pop off on the first hard bump, sometimes at the bar, sometimes at the light. Avoid...
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-adjustable-bicycle-mount-for-flashlights-2-3-2cm-diameter-44318 Looks like a variation on the same theme - weakness is the bar mount mechanism, which is just not secure enough.
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-adjustable-bicycle-mount-for-flashlights-25mm-diameter-51763 I haven't used this one, but from the looks of it, I can't figure out what the hell it's supposed to be, maybe a stem mount?

Thanks for all the inputs guys...I will research all the options you posted a bit later tonight :)

Shipping was $6.85, so I bought additional items to justify shipping cost

Solarforce L2 battery tube - L2T head, bezel, tailcap - XML single mode dropin powered by AW 18650

Inova 24/7 out back on seatpost

Great, front and rear!!

On the mount, I got about 8 of them. I order about 4 at a time, and they cost $2.40 each(price goes down after you order more than 3.. About a 2 1/2 week wait time too..
