FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

No squeak at all on the switch of either of my first-run FW3As.

If yours is squeaking maybe you can fix it by disassembling the switch and apply some steel wool or fine sandpaper to smooth out the edges.

I received my FW3A today! great light. (but some how i received the Warm white version and not the SST-20 4000K)
Some questions, (as this topic is 12K posts long and would take forever to find) is there available the SST-20 4000K star with the LEDs on it to swap in) also did anyone do any amp load/draw testing using the ā€œstepped modeā€ setting for each of the 7 modes on a full 30Q or VTC6 cell?

I could not do any tail cap amp draws due to not being able to turn the light on. I donā€™t think anyone has posted amp draws.

Someone will probably need to extend an led wire and measure there (making sure to apply pressure on the mcpcb for good heat transfer).

So noone can confirm the tint bin for the sst20?

You can measure Amp draw like this: 2800 Lumen Everyday Carry Flashlight. TLF, BLF, Luminitop FW3A - YouTube
One big lead from batt neg to external tubeā€™s threading for the multimeter.
One smaller lead from the batt neg to the internal tubeā€™s exposed end to simulate the switch.

I tried that, but it did not work. :weary:

Iā€™ve got Matts video on my list to watch. Looks like his is the 3D and it pulled 12 amps in the first few seconds.

Way back in this thread, there was speculation the length of the plastic nubin(or whatever it was called) changed in the second batch to avoid accidental activation. This caused the button to depress further and rub. I donā€™t know if this was ever confirmed. Maybe someone with both can take a peek .

Try here: FW3A mod thread. Post yours! - #547 by KawiBoy1428

I haven't followed this thread very closely, sorry. That could definitely be the reason.

I contacted Neal and he is going to solve this!

Iā€™m interested to hear what he says. Please let us know.

He'll send a replacement! With some other stuff.

My SST-20 shipped

Did anyone get the copper version?

Any idea when the colored version will be available?

Shipped - hope itā€™s with the option that I emailed about.

I texted him on BLF and he confirmed my choice. Still not sure if weā€™re going to get the sapphire lens or the original AR coated one, though.

It would be extremely useful to have an order system where a change can be communicated via the basket/order system.

email is fine, but not intuitive and very manual.
like: all orders are halted and consumers can login, select what option they want via a radio button or selection, and submit the selection. Everyone would then know what is going on and what they have to ship and what they get.

edit:
I didnā€™t consider the amount of effort for this technical system or change in contrast to the amount of people who would be affected. In fact, I have no clue how many people on here actually purchased how many lights. Or how many FW3A were sold in general around all distributors, shops on a global scale.
Maybe it really is easier to just email.

Yes, but even getting back an ā€œokayā€ would be nice

Should I buy one? Iā€™m a Zebralight collector, but this FW3A aroused my curiosity. Iā€™m afraid I wonā€™t adapt to AndĆŗril or the tail switch, or the lack of a real low moonlight.

Suggestions?

I thought the moonlight level was fine and really low. Ymmv

Stick with Zebralight. The FW3A is a nice light, but itā€™s very different than a Zebralight (other than its small size).

The FW3A moonlight isnā€™t bad. Itā€™s not as low as Zebralight will do, but itā€™s probably what most people consider a true moonlight.

Tailswitch is not easy to get used to if you like side-switches. It requires you hold the light different (perhaps even awkwardly if you donā€™t like to hold it that way). Youā€™ll also need to lock it out when carrying, since itā€™s way easier to come on in a pocket than a Zebralight.

It has other advantages, though. Lots of features, and available in a really warm tint. Cheaper, too.
