BLF Interest List: EX3 High Current Beryllium Copper Silver Plated springs - Still selling my springs :)

I’d rather get:

[my underlining and strikethrough]

I’d love to get an HA4 tint bin, which would be even better than the HD2.

Back on the BeCu springs though, I should have them early this week.

Anybody else want some springs?

I received my SST-20s yesterday. Envelope was a bit mangled by Canada Post but they survived unscathed. I’ll stick one in a light and post results at some point soon.

Hard to source I guess?

Kaidomain used to sell them if I’m not wrong.

Yeah, good color bins are really hard to source, and are in very high demand.

Pretty old story for the good stuff to be hard to @#$%. There's really no reason for it to be that way other than @#$%. I mean, would that be the same way if people were overall wiser, more knowledgeable and such? Certainly not.

To be honest, do you (plural) really think led developers/manufacturers cannot choose to change the phosphor recipe and base pump frequency to obtain a spot on planckian locus spectral power distribution from led emitters? The answer is yes, some companies are already doing it. I also believe obtaining affordably priced spot on or below planckian locus emitters is accessible, but guess what? More red and less green means less lemons, which means lower flux bin and lower efficiency greenficiency. In my opinion it surely pays off thanks to saturation and just because it simply looks better.

Today i have received my 2nd gen springs and FD2 LEDs.
Everything in perfect conditions.
Great work BSM!

@Dlux, excellent.

As expected, European customers get their packages first.

OK guys, I received a notification that I got the springs.

Once I come home, I’ll take pics and physical measurements to make sure everything is OK.

Indeed. Still looking forward to seeing mine arrive in the US.

No hurry though. I look forward to hearing from others how theirs look while I wait.

@iamlucky13, they are very shiny, a real piece of jewelry.
To see how they perform i am going to need some time, as i am a bit busy now.

I was thinking mainly of how the SST-20’s I ordered look, but true, the springs, too. Some very shiny pictures were shared upthread.

I’m not sure yet what my first project will be with the springs - I already have bypasses on some lights, but I knew I’d better have some good springs on hand for future projects.

Say, iamlucky13, why did you only order springs?

I thought people here mostly wanted the LEDs, no?

Uh oh… a joke, I hope?

I guess I will find out when the package arrives whether it has both springs and SST-20’s.

:open_mouth:

Sooo, how are those brand new springs doing?

:-)

Did a quick preliminary test on them.

1. The overall package was heavier than usual. Must be all that copper goodness.
2. The spring deformation is about what expected: barely any for the large spring, the usual stuff for the small spring.

3. T H I C C.

No pics or tests on them for now.

What does the usual stuff for the small spring mean?

T H I C C = To be Honest I Can't Complain?

Oh right! the LEDs.
I have never used a high CRI nor NW one before, so better someone with more experience describe them.

LEDs arrived today! Into my FW3A they go…

What can I say? They’re awesome! Not rosy on low modes, but 100% neutral. Way better than the nasty green FB4. On turbo it does get rosy.

(I know the wires are the wrong way; I mistakenly reflowed the emitters in reverse)

More importantly get that solder paste and solder balls off there
