This is a high capacity 18650 cell from Samsung.

The two cells are well matches, but the battery do not like high current discharge, it gets rather hot.

I gave this battery a discharge in the freezer, at 1A it has about 2600mAh at –20°C

Conclusion

This is good cell with lots of capacity for a 18650 cell, but it is not for high current.

Thanks HKJ!

Thanks HKJ.
Battery is good, but it is a bit weird that is not any better than 35E

It’s quite normal, this batch of their cells(“2H24”) is a pre-production batch, this model is already under development.

Oh! It is that, I didn’t know about that detail.

The model is sold in several places like a 3600mAh battery since over a year ago, several persons that tested it expecting 3600mah were quite disappointed.

Thanks for pinpointing.

So this test is far from an accurate reflection of 36G performance. I also do not see any discharge performance improvement versus 35E, when it should.

Remembers me of this old test station's Samsung 25R (green) review. Actual Samsung 25R performance is quite a bit better than that. See Vapcell INR18650 2500mAh (Purple) 2018 and Ampsplus INR18650 2500mAh (Black), for example.

:-)

And at the same time, I did not have much difficulty in deducing that it was preproduction cells because if you do research on the “36G” yourself, you will notice that only cells from the batch “2H24” are available for sale, batch that has more than two years now, and I also have asked to various suppliers on the net (oye, vbatty, lozd, …) and it all have this same batch “2H24” in stock only, then there are months too I have also touched a few words to Mooch who confirmed me having seen only this batch “2H24” available, all this proves that they are only samples of cells for testing, not the final model.

I wonder what Samsung has to gain by distributing preproduction samples that are known to be inferior, without a strong confidentiality agreement to prevent them from leaking into the grey market.
