Amazing variety and ingenuity CRX! I guess that’s what they reserve the term “mind-boggling” for.
I am fortunate enough to have first-hand experience of your skills with regard to the Rainier and Logan Brass Peaks which you modded on my behalf exactly as I requested.
This was far from simple as you had to remove the hard epoxy that was used to fully pot the old leds and clean the heads up before competely rebuilding the brass pills and contact points for the lights.
The optics and windows were also upgraded in addition to the leds and drivers.
I am now the very happy and satisfied owner of two beautiful Peak Brass lights expertly modded by CRX so that they have the great beams and functionality to match their looks. :+1:
CRX, you should open a modding school. Definitely you’re gifted within the skills you present. What I wish for you is to be possible earn a living just by creating awesome flashlights. That would be even better occupation than BBC TOP GEAR leader
Thanks.
A lot of the lights listed were modded for other people, given away or sold cheap as prototypes.
I usually list things here.
Me too!
I think I would need to get a lathe and a decent set of tools for that though.
There’s a lot of guys out there that are far more knowledgeable and skilled than me, I just like persevering in making things with my hands and showing what can be done with simple hand tools & materials anyone can get hold of, keeps me out of trouble too, mostly… :innocent:
My creations being hand made aren’t perfect, but some are interesting.
I told you I would try to think of a design for what you asked, sometimes that can take a very long time if it happens at all depending on what ideas and materials I come accross.
Designing something from scratch in my personal free time for someone is a time consuming venture.
Please remember I am not a flashlight shop or business, I am just a hobbyist who tries to fit things in and help people if I can.
Writing posts like this does not get you on my speedy ‘to do’ list
CRX, you say that you’d like to make a living on flashlight creations…
Yes, your methods are not among the most efficient….but I don’t think I’ve seen many perfectionists like you. In the flashlight community or elsewhere. This alone makes your lights expensive to make…but very valuable as well.
But have you actually tried making some money? That would be the first step. But from my limited experience I got a feeling that this was not among your priorities.
I mostly do this here as a distraction from the daily grind of chasing money so if I did this solely to earn a living I would probably need to find another creative hobby
Stay in a nice workshop all day making lights as opposed to jumping about electrical installations is becoming a much more appealing thought as I get older I must admit
True what you say though, prices are up from now on
WOW CRX! Those are some great looking lights! Thanks for taking the time to post pix.
If possible could you be specific on the brand of glow powder and tape that you use? I don’t remember the brand that I have tried using before, but it wasn’t very good.
If you have mentioned it in the thread already my apologies.
That’s where I saw it! SWEET! I read that thread last year when I first joined BLF. I originaly got the idea for using glow tape from your Emisar D4 thread, but I had forgotten where I saw the info on the glow gaskets. I want to use it on my D4 and D4s.
Thank you.
CRX, in the first post I see “FourSevens Mini AA Ti - MT-G2 Q0 5000K - FET 15 - 2x14250 - Rv Clicky Tail Sw - 1960lm”.
But after clicking the link I see 1600 lm instead.
