Next mode memory

Voted!

There was once Convoy’s driver with setup: 1-click, 2-click, 3-click, you could program two firsts light power and third one allowed for some blinkies or moon.

I don’t know why this soution did not spread wider. IMHO: a great solution, you can easily access any of modes you desire without going the “clicky-path”. And I realized that very rarely I need more than 3 modes.
Don’t you think that n-click based driver would be nice? Even going to 5-clicks you can access any of modes right away.

In a stepped light I prefer L-M-H-T-L-M-H-T

The reason for this is simple: I know what will happen when I click the button. It is always the same.

“Wave pattern” in a 3-level light is slightly annoying (L-M-H-M-L).
“Wave pattern” in a 4-level light is very annoying (L-M-H-T-H-M-L).

Definitely L-M-H-T-L-M-H-T.

BUT:

  • I highly value lights that always start low, my memory is consistently shorter than that of my flashlights and with mode memory I never know what level will the light have once I turn it on
    • I actually also like lights that consistently start at a medium / medium low level as well, as long as they have a shortcut that enables me to turn them on at low / moonlight
  • I highly value lights when I can always go from M to L without passing H or T and blinding everyone around (myself included).

Triangle instead of sawtooth.

Problem is: You never know what the next mode would be if current mode and direction are memorized (by f/l, not by human brain).

Shortcuts to moon and turbo FTW :+1:

L-M-H-T with memory mode.

Voted “Low> Med> Hi >Turbo >Low> Med> Hi >Turbo”!

Ideally, the possibility to go UP and DOWN on modes (ramping style) would be nice. But normally I prefer the above mentioned sequence. Actually, I did not buy some lights from a certain brand [despite I like their designs a lot!] because of the L-M-H-T-H-M-L sequence :zipper_mouth_face:

Programmable UI like Bistro that let you choose modes order, low to high or high to low, let you choose numbers of modes, enable or disable memory, etc.

L M H T H M L is terrible for me.

Mode memory is fine, as long as there is a shortcut from off to low. (I like a shortcut to turbo too, but it’s not as important.)

Really irritating to not know whether the next click will be brighter or dimmer . You're wrong 50% of the time So half the time the light is a disappointment .

Also, very important that location beacon (flashing red light on button) has much lower drain in future Skilhunt flashlights.

On H03 the drain is like 2mA

BTW, Andúril ist very good at that. Click and hold for up, Doubleclick and hold for down. Best method when being limited to a single button UI imo.

Sawtooth for me!

Out of those two, I prefer LMHTLMHT. It’s easier and quicker to get back to a low setting and as it was said before, you don’t know if the light is going to get brighter or dimmer when you pick it up.

With a stepped mode light, I would prefer Hold from off to get Moon, hold to scroll through LMHLMH, double click to Turbo whether on or off and a single press to turn it off. That would suit me just fine.

T-S-H-M-L

I know the poll is pretty much decided for at least the few of us that voted, but I’d like to see more votes here, so…

BUMP!

BTW, I voted L>M>H>T>L>M>H>T and I prefer also the following:

  • Last mode memory
  • Direct from off to lowest mode (Moonlight if it is available, or low)
  • Direct from off to Turbo

I voted L>M>H>T>L>M>H>T
Direct from off to lowest mode
Don’t care about memory
