I highly value lights that always start low, my memory is consistently shorter than that of my flashlights and with mode memory I never know what level will the light have once I turn it on
I actually also like lights that consistently start at a medium / medium low level as well, as long as they have a shortcut that enables me to turn them on at low / moonlight
I highly value lights when I can always go from M to L without passing H or T and blinding everyone around (myself included).
Ideally, the possibility to go UP and DOWN on modes (ramping style) would be nice. But normally I prefer the above mentioned sequence. Actually, I did not buy some lights from a certain brand [despite I like their designs a lot!] because of the L-M-H-T-H-M-L sequence :zipper_mouth_face:
Programmable UI like Bistro that let you choose modes order, low to high or high to low, let you choose numbers of modes, enable or disable memory, etc.
Really irritating to not know whether the next click will be brighter or dimmer . You're wrong 50% of the time So half the time the light is a disappointment .
Out of those two, I prefer LMHTLMHT. It’s easier and quicker to get back to a low setting and as it was said before, you don’t know if the light is going to get brighter or dimmer when you pick it up.
With a stepped mode light, I would prefer Hold from off to get Moon, hold to scroll through LMHLMH, double click to Turbo whether on or off and a single press to turn it off. That would suit me just fine.
Bistro or blf A6 UI; short press forward, medium press backward/reverse, so you can toggle to high and press some longer to go back to medium for instance.
