[review] Wurkkos WK30 white/red/UV light

This light was quite a bit more than I expected. The modes for the UV and red were quite impressive considering I wasn’t expecting a lot from these LED’s. On top of that the 351D has good output as well. Well worth the cost but I do wish it were a little less cost. The battery tested about 150mah more that rated with my Lii 500.

Hey, thanks! And I know you mean.

I’ve been all flashlighted out, too. FW3A? D4S? FT03? Etc.? Do I really need one? Not at all, except for “just to have one” reasons, which I can’t really justify anymore.

This little critter’s useful, and I just can’t keep from playing with it. I’ve taken to using red at night to just check the time’n’temp. Beats even moonlight on my Cometa. UV? Why not?

Was thinking, though…

A switch-beacon would be phenomenal. My Cometa’s lit tailswitch is just way too bright, and blue, and I end up unscrewing the cap anyway to not glare in my face at night (kinda defeating the purpose of having it within easy reach at night), and most lit switches are just way too bright anyway.

So was thinking about a dim constantly backlit red. (Got the idea from the Imalent “sleep light”, only not nearly as bright.)

“Breathing” switches like on the SC31 are just annoying, so I keep that turned off. They’re even worse than constant too-bright switches, as the bright/dim variation drags your attention to it. But a simple dim dim dim red backlight on the switch would be perfect.

Wow, thank you, that is really a fantastic forum for flashlight improve….

Received mine today. Not sure how I’ll use it. Typically don’t use red. Not sure of the usefulness of the 395nm UV, though it does light up the stripe on a US $20 and detergent remnants in our company men’s room - I’m sure that’s not urine splatters 4’ up on the walls.

What I do like, is that all of the LED choices have at least two brightness levels to chose from.

After dark, I’ll experiment some more.

LOL…bet ya didn’t know the average splatter rate for men’s urinals/toilets is up to 6 feet.

I feel more impressed with myself, now.

I did not want to know that.

Hmmm.

“Streamer”, eh? Do I want to ask? :open_mouth:

Received mine today. Ordered Friday with the discount code. First impressions is it is pretty good for the price and features. Battery is pretty loose inside and rattles inside (fixed that). The edges of the fins are pretty sharp. Beside that, I'm waiting for dark to try out the emitters properly.

Wow … mine arrived today with another arriving tomorrow. What a bitchin light. I hope more become available soon as I went back to buy a few more and they are all gone for now.

The specimen I received is flawless with no battery rattle.

Lightbringer … many thanks for enabling me to find my new favorite toy. Very cool indeed.

No sharp fins either?

:innocent:

Fins on mine are crisp as I would not go so far as to say they are sharp. Not sharp enough to cut skin but very aggressive.

A non-issue IMHO.

I just noticed the rattle …. with the battery installed and tapping the base sideways against my hand, I detect a slight rattle in the battery tube. Tube ID is slightly larger than the provided 26650 battery. I will install a shim of some sort if it becomes a nuisance.

OK - aggressive is probably a better word than sharp. No, not really an issue, just something I noticed. Thanks for the feedback.

This is 100% the light Sofirn showed a while back.

Yeah, did notice that about the fins, but it doesn’t bug me.

Had to shake it like a cranky baby to get the battery to rattle, otherwise I wouldn’t’ve even noticed.

Wellp, at least you put the ‘t’ in there, unlike Bad-Grammar Todd.

No worries.

But see? Can’t put it down, can ya?

So far, what I like the most about it is the beautiful white beam.

My most interesting discoveries with the UV at home is the compact fluorescents glow red and the LED house lights glow blue.

The green Palmolive dish soap glows a ghostly green.

The 395nm UV also makes it easy to verify a legitimate IL driver’s license.

Detergent residue is on almost every wall.

LB, Man! You can write a review! It just increased my anticipation for mine to arrive!

I really like that the charge rate is one of the best for the USB rechargeables I've tested, ie.:

The cut-off voltage was 4.15V. It slowly ramped down the charge current before it terminated. I then dropped it in the Opus and added a few more mAh, ie:

This is going to be fun to have... at least until the next whizbang contraption comes out!

Right now, I couldn't visually find the switch while using the Hi red level in a dark room.
