[Canceled] Sofirn SP70 BLF Edition

The current version has plenty current and output but among other things (see the OP) we would like to see a smooth reflector with well-focused led, and that is not to be modded in, so that is why we wait for the BLF version.

That makes sense, thank you for the input!

Has anyone heard any more on this project?

I have no news but I did see they released a “dumbed” down version with a more basic UI. So they have gone in the opposite direction.

Haven't heard anything. SP70 is just as good a candidate for modding as the new L6 with XHP70.2. Still needs a new driver, still needs a spring bypass. L6 can probably be had slightly cheaper *shrug*

No, the new light your thinking of is not based on the SP70. It’s a different version of the S70/S70S with it’s smaller head, etc… They mention that the interface is simpler than on the SP70, but not that the light itself is based on the SP70. I think this wording confuses a few people. See below.

I stand corrected. I didn’t look close enough and the wording was indeed confusing

I think this new TK70 is more in the spirit of the old Kronos K70 from 2017 which never got into production. There are a lot of similar styling cues.

Kronos K70 below.

Interested in the BLF version. OP reflector and XHP70.2 is good with me. I’d rather not have the SST line. Would definitely prefer warmer tints though, 3000-4000k options would be wonderful. I’d probably buy a 3000k and a 4000k. And I’m willing to pay much more for a built-in-charging option. Hey, no name Jiaheng line from Aliexpress can do it why not Sofirn?

Because it’s irresponsible and unsafe.

Charging cells in series is either unsafe or rather expensive to do properly. Charging a series pack requires BMS.

BMS meaning Battery Management System.

It would mean your 2 26650 batteries would be shrink wrapped together with the BMS that will monitor the voltage of each cell making sure neither over charges or over discharges. Most folks don’t like this option because the flashlight manufacturer is the one who chooses what battery is used and how much it costs (usually a lot). It’s also likely they will discontinue the battery pack after a couple years and you will be stuck with an obsolete flashlight. Some people don’t mind battery packs because it’s convenient to recharge it, but most folks prefer separate batteries.

Well, sort of…. almost like saying a ’67 Shelby Cobra is an undesirable obsolete vehicle just because they don’t make them anymore. lol

Put whatever cells you want to use in place of the proprietary battery pack, just don’t use the charger… My SR-90 Intimidator uses a pair of TrustFire 32650’s. Much higher capacity, much better current flow. I have an XHP-70.2 in it now.

News from SP70 SMO Reflector?

Is there any news to report?

It appears not.

@Lux-Perpetua any news or chance that a BLF version will be possible?

Looking for news on this too, really interested in the SP70 BLF edition.

I hope Sofirn will offer at least more LED options when this first batch of lights is sold. CW is not for everyone.

Jackie says Sofirn will be having a big 2 day sale Nov 11 and 12. The SP70 is available in a 4700K-5300K tint.
