Sofirn SP10 Pro (AA/14500/Andúril 2) - now available!

Withdrawing my interest. DQG Slim AA is too good, it fills my “nimh/alkaline” support niche.

Price put me off!!! same with max lumens on AA

What s the latest news on this project?

Three years later…

…in a galaxy, eh, right around the corner…

Stainless or brass comes in around $40 with the extension tube (to get it to AA/14500 length) and pocket clip. Probably cheaper if you can find codes for it.
Yeah, it’s more than a S2 or Tool AA, but it’s also very close to the smallest AA light you’re going to get (the competition is with non-clicky DQG lights, haha). Since my pocket clip came in, I just can’t grab another AA light. The Sofirn will surely be stuck with a protruding, pocket-activating side switch, it won’t be as small, it’ll probably still be cool white, and for the size I’ll just wanna grab my SC62.

I am interested if it will support dual chemistries. Lower output on NiMH is to be expected and it’s fine. I already have a standard SP10S and I’d love to have one running Andúril.

Not sure how feasible it is, but I’d like to see some other emitter options as well. I’d love to have something ~4000k and high CRI in this light.

I see your point…

But this flashlight is to be dumped in my Bergan along with my E03H manker headlamp… They are used only as a backup and nothing more…

My actual EDC is my Olight Mini S1 Mini, Olight s10r III baton, along with my BLF A6…

So am not looking for something that cost too much…

I actually did have the Sofirn SP10B and loved it but it has been lost it somewhere. As to side switch always activating it, I generally mechanically lock them out(unscrew bat cap) so I never have that issue, I only leave it unlocked when am using them cobstantly.

For me E-switch and EDC aren’t compatible.
Support of a wide range of cells is handy. My guess is that AA support sells better outside the flashaholic community.
A simple UI would be fine. An UI like Zebralight would be great.
Interesting idea but more a toy than an EDC light.

OPR would be nice.

The SP10s hase OP so i think the SP10s BLF will have one 2

Ah, thanks!

Very good points. Exactly why there’s no one flashlight for everyone, and also why I love this place.

Yes, to me the Anduril on a light this small does feel a bit like it’s just a toy. But are we really trying to pretend at least some portion of our collections has not entered the toy category?
I’m still excited about the development to get Anduril on AA boost driver. Maybe someone will do it for a AAA light next

Dunno bout some of you, but AA, 16340,and 18350 size lights are perfect for advanced firmware, and all of my current EDC's (I got too many to count) are e-switch's. The smaller, but still powerful, the light is, the more use it gets for me. I might prefer a compact 18650, but the thinness of an AA size light is a definite advantage for carry in size and weight.

I agree. The bigger, more powerful lights I have are cool and fun but my main EDCs are still a Nitecore D10 and an S2+ shorty. The D10 was my first proper light and I still use it the most.

Anduril on an AA light would be awesome. Honestly I would be happy with a simple 1-click on/off with instant access to moonlight and turbo regardless if it has all the blinky modes or ramping (although it would be cool) etc. The lack of this UI is what has been holding me back from buying a SP10S. I guess I’ll wait it out and see what happens. Between this and waiting for the BLF LT1 I’m going crazy.

Can’t agree more.
Have well over 150 flashlights, but the one I EDC everyday is the Lumintop Tool AA 2.0.
Even just use the Eneloop as opposed to the 14500 because of longer run times. Can’t stand bulky 18650 in pocket and on belt does not suit.

On the computer desk are currently 16 lights, mainly 18650 but also 4 AAA, 2 AA/14500 and 2 18350’s
One I reach off here most is the Astrolux S1 18350 in neutral tint.

Isn’t the S1 a BLF A6

yes

Thanks to contactcr for pointing this thread out. Sure looks like it'll be a fun exercise in driver design!
