Gocomma assisted & manual flipper knives

Yeah, I have the FH11 and like it.
I have the FH21 & like it even more.
But for me, the FH41 takes it to another level. I really like it!!

Good video Boaz… I can relate. :person_facepalming: . It never ends though it seems. :money_mouth_face:

Uhh… all this talk of FH41 makes me want to get one, even though I am perfectly happy with the FH21 already.

My Gocomma knife (that one here: https://www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-folding-knives/pp_009152095568.html) just arrived. So far, I'm quite impressed by the quick and easy flipping mechanism. It works great for the price. However, my liner lock looks the same as on the picture of the page before, i.e. it's coverage is about 40% according to what I could see with my eyes. If I got you guys right this is not much of a problem, right? Unlike my Ganzo knives the blade of the Gocomma knife comes not very sharp from factory. A quick test with a sheet of paper revealed that the blade gets more or less stuck when cutting through it. So, this one needs to be resharpened.

(picture below is not mine but taken as reference from the page before)

New Gocomma knife...

I call it the Gocomma Coffee.

https://www.gearbest.com/with-lock-folding-knives/pp_009490641435.html

It's supposed to "quick open" like some of the other Gocomma knives.

Looks cute.

Teacher.

You may like those plain straight sided knife body’s.
OK for pocket toy and cleaning nails.

But be careful if you ever use them for any decent knife work.
Where you have to hold firmly while pushing or stabbing.
Especially when/if they have water, oil, grease. Anything wet on them.
It’s very easy to slice your fingers as it slides up out of your grip.

That’s the reason “professional” knives usually have grip grooves
or very pronounced dimples in scales. and finger grooves.
GRIP is the most important item on a knife apart from steel and edge.

Yrs ago we had flat slab wooden scales on Commercial fish/butchers knives.
Any old Trawlerman you see will have lots of slices on his fingers.
We had to gut and Gill all the fish b4 packing in the ice kits.
We used to saw/cut slots, dips in the scales for better grip.
Keeps your finger tendons longer.

“”“If disassembled, can’t that piece be gently bent a little more to provide more coverage?”“”.

Lightbringer.

Bending the lock bar probably wouldn’t make much difference. in the space avail.
Also Change the agle of contact faces.

Be better to strip knife. Put that side of frame in vice.
and file/ diamond plate a tiny amount off that face.
Keeping the angleof face the same.
Front/back. AND Side to side. There are 2 angles involved.

That would allow the lock face to travel over a little more for more face contact.
WHile still giving full contact pressure.
And allowing the full contact to still occur with age, as they wear.
They are cut so as the moving part WILL move over further to take up any wear.
We just speeding up the “wear” a little.
More wear. More move over. MORE contact face. Better all round.

Would also allow any slight adjustment IF faces not truly flush,
Just be careful. Smaller IS better…

Practice on a 20yr old throwaway first.

Just got a Civivi Baklash, if you want an outstanding flipper knife, this is knife is the S#%$
I can find 0 faults with this thing, perfect fit & finish, dead centering, solid lockup, hair shaving sharp and incredible action opening and closing, even comes with a nice case and micro fiber cloth, I don’t have a gocomma but I’d bet this guy can kick the crap out of one lol.

I would hope so!

It costs several times as much as a Gocomma.

it’s worth it tho, I put off getting one for a long time, but these are hard to beat for the price.

This knife is still on GearBest, but the Gocomma branding is gone!

Also, it says it has an axis lock, but it doesn't look like it does.

I have a Baklash. It really is amazing for the money. Whether you get the basic version for $42.50 or one of the fancy-scaled versions for $50-something, it’s easily one of the best knives you can get for the money. Most of the Civivi knives punch above their pay grade.

Now that I also have the Gocomma, I can tell you that your bet is safe. That’s not really a surprise though. The Gocomma costs like a third as much. I’m still skeptical that this is real D2. My schedule is crazy this time of year but as we get into fall, I’ll give the Gocomma a run as my primary EDC and see what happens.

That is the first of the Gocomma knives that has piqued my interest. Might have to pick one up. Is anyone besides Gearbest carrying it?

As for Civivi, none of their knives so far have really spoken to me either. I do own two of the Massdrop knives that WE produced (a Gent & Keen) and I’ve been impressed with their quality, I just haven’t found a Civivi I love yet.

My next purchase is going to be this newly released Steel Will beaut….

Since some Gocomma knives don't have model names or numbers, they can be hard to find online.

BTW, that knife is no longer called Gocomma on Gearbest.

I don't know what happened.

Maybe the comma went?

Go, just go, …

Exactly. You hear it enough, “GO, comma!”, you’ll get sick of it and just go

Poor comma…

That somehow reminds me of a line in Coldplay's song "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall"...

"I'd rather be a comma than a full stop."

I received this knife today...

8.9cm D2 blade and a G10 handle:

https://www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-folding-knives/pp_009780560071.html

I ordered it on May 19th, 2019.

I received it today, August 27th, 2019.

I'm very glad GearBest actually shipped it.

I have three Gocomma knives, and I like this one the most.

It quick opens pretty well, though the shape of the flipper is not ideal.

Plus the clip is good.

This is the best knife that I own that supposedly quick opens.

Did anyone tested the steel quality? They look great on pictures and spec, but don’t know if this is merely cheap steel.
