Yeah I haven’t had time to machine the piece of metal I need to hold and cool the crystal and laser.
Hopefully once school starts in september and i have access to the machine shop again
Enderman i have some questions for the throw master. i know that the collar directs the light back onto the led but does depth of field and size of the aperture have anything to do with throw?
Do you think the collars could be made by cutting a hole in one of these Aliexpress with a diamond hole saw?
The size of the exit angle will change the amount of light recycled.
With a larger exit angle, the collar is collecting less light, which means you will get a higher efficiency from the LED (more lumens output) but less intensity because there is less light being recycled.
The wavien collar with 60 degrees full angle is an arbitrary middle ground, collects 75% of light, with a 33% recycling efficiency, resulting in 25+25 = 50% of the total LED light being output through the opening at 2x the original intensity.
Yes you can make your own collar with a spherical reflector and a diamond saw if you’re very careful.
That reflector you linked will not work because it is parabolic.
You need a hemisphere.
