3 x 26650 lights? (TrustFire TR-J12 replacement?)

My ancient “TrustFire TR-J12” light has just died. Despite being a bit crappy when bought, I managed to fiddle with it and get it running quite reliably for the last ~6 years. But it’s dead and I don’t have the patience to fix it again, so, time for a replacement!

I’d really like a Convoy L6, but with a dimmable UI and 3 cells for a bit of extra heft - is there anything like that out there? I’ve drawn a blank so far :frowning:

I spotted that you can run an L6 with 3 cells, if you can get the tube from the L2, but to get a dimmable UI I’d still have to do a driver swap and I’m not sure I have the time or patience.

Any ideas chaps?

Well, this was the only two possible replacements I could see:

But it does look like this style of light is losing favour as there’s really nothing else out there and these two are quite old. Maybe this is one I’ll mod into something :\

Acebeam T30 can take 4x26650.

What do you mean by dimmable UI? Ramping?

Yeah, exactly, ramping

Please allow me to join the discussion.
I have a Convoy L6 host, an extension from Convoy L2 and a stock driver bought at BG (claimed to be 2s) and a mess in my mind.
I’m also planning to build a 3x26650 flashlight but don’t know if I should get a driver from KD (3s)? Or the one from BG would handle up to 13V voltage? I’m also planing to increase the power with a R120 resistor mod, but not sure if combining it with 13V is a good idea…

Any experience that you have?

Sorry, I missed this reply earlier!

I have no experience with modding to be honest, this is definitely not my area of expertise
