Now THIS is big: Keygos? 7 x XML and 3 x 26650 IMR

Some of the users on the German forum posted a 1.5A draw at tailcap! So it isn't very bright. But of course, he might have a lemon

I got mine today and I am quite disappointed. The Trustfire TR-J12 is clearly brighter.

The Dry and the TR-J12 have about the same brightness. The TR-J12 has the bigger spot and is visibly brighter than the Keygos.

If you have to decide for one light, then buy the Trustfire or the Dry (or both) but not the Keygos unless you want to
change the driver anyway.

That's very disappointing to hear to say the least. I suppose the only thing to do is figure out if a better driver can be installed in it, and assuming it's also able to deal with greater heat generation. Since I've been looking to purchase my first 26650 capable light, I'd say the Trustfire TR-J12 is the way to go.

Got my TR-J12 today. Compared it against the Keygos x7. Both with fresh eagletac 3x 18650 3100mah.

The spill is wider on the Tr J12 and equally as bright. The hotspot is slightly brighter on the Tr-J12 and similar in size.

I like the TR J12 more now. The claimed Keygos 8500 lumens is a let down compared to the trustfire 4500 lumen.

You don't need both, the Trustfire will do.

Got it yesterday. First impressions are "not so positive":

Pros:
- screw-in pill with long threads
- seemingly good thermal transfer
- the included cells do work without magnets or similar spacers
- cells seem to be protected (even though not mentioned in the wrapper??)

Cons:
- cells are too long for the light (have to loosen all parts a bit, maybe 5-10mm in total!!)
- seriously underdriven (TC current 1.75A with 3x26650 -> <0.75A / emitter -> ~2000 emitter lumens - good for longer runtimes though)
- problems working with 2x18650 / 2x26650 (doesn't always stay on when high / med - low is ok)
- included cells were not matched at all (3.72 ... 3.98V)
- many small dents in head
- bezel was badly scratched on one side (~1cm wide, through ano, bare aluminum visible)
- included charger is slooooow (0.5A for both)

any pictures?

for modding to high power for short term use - tf j12 or keygos?

1.75A at the tail (with the lousy cells so you are actually going to get higher than usual current anyway due the higher resistance) is pretty low with 3 cells.

IIRC, the TR-J12 is slightly above 2 amps with 3 good cells like XTAR 2600s....actually not the lowest resistance around here but decent enough.

find an MMA or jujitsu class and get him to try some sports. also do what he can to avoid them , different camp or something. being able to defuse conflicts is important too

i would not suggest try to sucker someone stronger or backing down either.

and if all else fails a ball peen hammer is useful. kidding of course

It's no use, the classes of 5 XM-Ls, 6 XM-Ls, 7 XM-Ls and even 10 or 20 XM-L showerheads would be the same output.

The limiting + deciding factors would be the drivers, which is directly influenced by the batteries. Dwelling into the drivers, it would be limited by the components' power (heat dissipation), hence size as well with regards to driver diameter as well as host-driver cavity size.

oatmanutd / lumenhunter: How are the provided cells fitting in your lights? How long are the cells? What is the length of body tube in 3-cell configuration? Can you send a photo with all three cells in, without the tail cap?

(Lot's of questions, but please answer, so I know if I got a lemon)

Would not mind more info on cells like IR, protected ? mAh and so on.

Ok, found the reason for cells not fitting. |(

Someone had figured that it would be fun to have two springs on top of each other:

..so I unsoldered one of them and now the cells are almost fitting (Read: If I fully tighten the tailcap, the light turns on! If I leave a 0.5...1.0mm gap, it works well.

And quickly I tried the ceiling bounce: The light is not as dim as I thought it to be. About in par with DRY Turbo of Skyray King (which is about 15% more than Skyray 3 x XM-L). And with that small current I would think that there are no thermal issues.. We'll see.

So does this mean u are starting to like it?

Well.. At least I'm stopping to dislike it. :)
