I’m interested in 10 pcs 219c sm4050e. What will be the price for them? Also, how much is international shipping?

I don’t have pricing on them just yet but my guess is around $3-4.

I thought the MacAdam ellipses were inclusive of all the preceding “quadrants”, i.e. sm4050e includes the bottom-right quadrant of sm403, sm4070e includes quadrants from sm4050e and the bottom-right quadrant of sm403. Or looking at it another way, the Rank defines how tight to the BBL the tint is. Is this correct? If so then sm4070e would not guarantee a significantly negative DUV but rather just increase the range of the potential tint further away from the BBL.

That is my understanding.

However, it is also my understanding that most device manufacturers prioritize consistency versus a particular tint deviation, and if they are going to design to a specific tint deviation, they are likely to be conservative and prefer to stay close to the BBL.

Therefore, it is my assumption (but only an assumption), that emitters that are within 3 MacAdam steps of the BBL usually get sold in SM403 bins, meaning SM4050e bins should be less likely to contain SM403 emitters, and SM4070e bins should be less likely to contain SM4050e and SM403 emitters.

I have some questions:

(1) * May I know the unique pro/con of the sm4050e/sm4550e compared to the Nichia 219B 9080, SST-20 FD2, or other highly recommended emitters?
(2) * What is the difference between the 2700K and 3000K? They are so close together, is there a difference that people could preference between these two?
(3) * What do you guys rate your preference when choosing and LED? (TINT:CRI out of 100) I am still learning about the importance of tint, so my preference is 60TINT:40CRI
(4) * What are popular types of optics and how does each one affect the tint?
(5) * How does current affect the tint?
(6) * In relation to tint, What is the pro/con of a PWM driver compared to LINEAR driver?

* Most common bins (SM403, FB4 etc) have been reported to be slightly green

Based on BLF tests, it seems Luminus may be slightly more conservative than Nichia, so the output difference may be smaller than the specs suggest.

(2) There is a noticeable difference side-by-side. Not huge, but I definitely see the difference between the 3000K lights in my kitchen and the 2700K lights in my dining room.

(3) This really is a matter of preference to figure out on your own, but your attempt at balance makes sense

(4) Total Internal Reflection (TIR) optics seem to usually do a better job of smoothing tint out across the beam than reflectors. Reflectors usually produce a more defined hotspot and spill area that I find makes a versatile beam.

(5) As in the table, in many emitters, increasing the current tends to shift the tint to be rosier, but I don’t think this is universal to all emitter families.

(6) A PWM driver will have fairly consistent tint and efficiency within a single power channel. A current controlled driver will experience more tint variation, but should be more efficient at lower outputs.

The higher flux bins are usually less rosy. My D200 3000K 219B 9080 are VERY GREEN because D200 is a high flux bin for that CCT.
Have you tried the 4000K D220?

Btw, since we had so many group buys for the 4000K and 4500K and the 4500K has been available in the Fireflies series, I wonder how many people would be interested in the 2700K and 3000K rosy variant if you can get some of those. I for one would buy a bunch, especially the 2700K.

I’ve sent this most recent bin of sw40 and sw45k to a friend for testing. Will most likely have results by tomorrow.

As for the 2700k and 3000k variants, I can try and get a hold of them but it would likely require a group buy large enough to warrant the cost and effort. If I could get interest in at least 300 pcs of each CCT, I could probably make it happen.

It is worth being aware there already is a user who is selling 3000K R9050 219B’s in the BLF Buy and Sell subforum. I don’t know how many he has, though, so perhaps there is more demand than what he has on hand.

Yes I’m aware of that particular sales thread but this group buy is for the r9080 variant.

Just so we don’t get our hopes too high on the 219B 3000K. I bought some NVSL219B-V1 sm303 D200 R9080 from LEDrise.eu and measurements I got in a Convoy S2+ triple on highest output:
CCT: 3372K
DUV: 0.0011
CRI: 95.2
R9: 84.5
Rf: 93
Rg: 102

It is above BBL so noticeably more yellowish than the SST-20 3000K or E21A 3000K. Maybe a lower output D180 would have produced a more rosy tint that we are all after. I’m hoping for the best since I’m on the group buy list but just letting everyone know. I would have more interest in the 2700K since that one is to date untested and might give us a pleasant surprise.

Yep I’m hoping the test results will come back favorable if my order goes through. Just awaiting confirmation right now.

My rep informed me that sw27 is unavailable at this time and there’s no projected ETA if those will be available anytime in the future so the outlook on that is dim. Sorry guys.

As for the 219c sm4050e, I’ve submitted my request and awaiting a response. Will followup by Friday if I still don’t hear anything.

I might also be getting a small batch of sw35 in addition to the sw30 if that comes through.

UPDATE: So in regards to the 219c, right now only the sm403 bin is available. None of the other options are in stock. I’ve requested to be notified in case they ever do become available. I also made a mistake and didn’t realize that the sm4550e and sm4570e bins don’t come in 90+ CRI so they will be dropped out of consideration.

219b sw30 and sw35 are still likely to happen. Will keep you guys posted on those as more info becomes available.
