Does not want standard Led like XML T6 or something. Should already bring so over 1500Lumen.

Where do I get the best from? (and cheapest?) if that matters a lot if the LED is not on the base I would definitely be practicing with cheap. (If that makes sense with such a high performance LED.) Which driver do you pick for that? As a power supply, I thought of 2x 18650 battery lathe, milling machine, CAD knowledge, soldering iron, solder grease, thermal grease present and normal solder (vmtl. Lead-free)

I thought of 2x 18650 in a row to use the 6v variant.

With 3x18650 it is already too clunky I think (for that one always has in the bag while crafting outside)

With a 18650, I’m sure not out, synonymous did not have the high-performance batteries.
(From old laptops, partly deep unloading etc …)
Otherwise there’s no “secret” battery source or? For this 18350 z. B.

Ps. Is there any DIY reports with CAD files (ipt) and documentation?

The XHP35 is only available as 12V, i’ve not seen any mention on here of the XHP35.2 which would indicate it’s not easily available, but the Cree datasheet suggests it is only available as 12V as well.
This means you would need a boost driver to boost the 3.7V of a single 18650 and the 7.4V of 2x18650 to 12V.
It’s possible but slightly limiting.

What do you want from the LED that a standard LED doesn’t offer?
Do you want something efficient? Do you want something with good colour rendition?
Do you want something that can take a lot of power, i.e. something that is bright at 60W? Or do you want something that is bright at 10W? Or 3W?
Do want something that can put light in the distance, or something that can put a lot of light at your feet, or both?

All these things affect what would be considered the ‘best’ LED for you :slight_smile:

And am i right in thinking you are looking to make your own torch body (host) using a lathe/milling machine?

Alternatively, you can use XHP50.2 which also has 6v variant. The XHP50.2 has the dimension of 5*5mm, the same as XM-L.

Unless you need a High-CRI ones, you can easily get it from Aliexpress, which is selling $6-$7/ea. You can also get to choose the MCPCB size (16/20mm) and CCT too (3000k/5000k/6500k).

I’ve already thought about the connection times 2x18650 Batteries and drivers and LED made.
I think I’ll get the XHP 50.2 Cool White 6V.
Which reflector I get and how I realize the contact pressure from the LED to the socket, I do not know yet.
I think I have a good reflector in the workshop lying around I’ll be reading the next one …

Suggestions for improvement?

Since this time, I’ve been running an XML T6 in a WF 501B again, and the bad cells are quickly recognizable.
Are synonymous yes 3 A to be drawn there, is so sau so bright but still still poor for outside …

How would I get such a boost driver for ne 21700 and XHP 50.2

I would then buy a two new 21700 cells. (at 3.6V but
then 5.3A would be due for 19W)

All 18650 that I know are Ø17,9mm but probably well 19mm anyway because that would otherwise be difficult to manufacture.
