Nightwatch NI40 with Osram S2WP - now arrived- coupon: NDF (8% off)

All right, just to make double-sure.
So the XHP50.2 De-domed means it’s a blue led without dome? If so, can you please confirm the performance numbers in the table are correct?

Beamshot from the CW S2WP. Wide spill with a medium sized spot. Very even tint with no discoloration.

A thrower (Emisar D1S) for comparison at the same distance (under 2 meters from the wall)

I’m getting 20A on turbo, which is activated with a double half-press, but it’s a bit too hard to do as the off timer is very picky about the speed. The firmware needs tweaking for sure. Most of the time a double click just advances the normal mode cycle. I didn’t even realize there’s a turbo mode before. In addition the half presses need to be kind of deep but not too deep not to activate the mechanical switch, otherwise the light flickers between modes and since some steps are very small, it’s difficult to tell if you’ve managed to even advance to the next mode.

There doesn’t seem to be any PWM on any mode. Practically no ripple at all either. But there’s a strange bug I haven’t encountered before. After first activating turbo and then coming back to a normal mode, any of them, PWM is suddenly there at 15kHz. But it’s gone after advancing to the next mode.

Here’s what one of the mid modes look normally

Here’s when I activate turbo with a double click and come back

I thought the nl40 had a smooth reflector?

Is this a tail switch light?

Yes, tail switch.

I just purchased a 50.2 6500k. Why are the sites pictures showing a smo reflector, but In this thread, it’s op reflector?
I wanted to get a smo. And what’s the diff between the xhp 50.2 blue?

Sorry, but the promo code sucks. I’ve almost bought a host but now I’m mad.
When you use a code for host you subtract $2, but then you receive message the shipping options has changed and no more free shipping. Cheapest is $5, so using a code made the price for me from regular $25 to $28.
Thank you NG.

Edit: and you can’t undo it by adding another one to cart. Code applies automatically.

Edit2: pheew, finally managed to remove applied promo code which resulted in lower price back to $25.

Beware.

l just sent Neal a message for the answer to your post.

Probably only for the throwy SST40 versions. It might not play nice with the quad die emitters, donut holes and all.

The 50.2 should not have donut holes even with a smo reflector.
The ft03 has a smo with a 50.2 and beam is great.

Neal has to confirm, but this was the reply:

Seems XHP50.2 CW
SST40 CW
SST40DD NW
are SMO

I’m at the edge of puchasing the S2WP variant…
but I need some time to make up my mind. Any hint on how long will the code last?

(Note: for me the code didn’t affect free shipping, so this is actual $4 discount)

Some questions…

  1. One thing doesn’t add up between what maukka says compared to M4DM4X review of SST-20 variant. M4DM4X says it has a deep reflector (and it looks so to me). maukka said “Wide spill with a medium sized spot”.

Wide enough spill means a lot to me. When walking the light I want the spill to end shortly before my feet. Deep reflectors don’t really work for me….how is it in this case?

2. Description says triple-click strobe but earlier M4DM4X review says double-click strobe. Which is correct?
3. I see that SST-20 and XHP50.2 specs in the shop are different from what they were originally. Mostly lower. Can we expect similar specs change to S2WP later?
4. Will the production lights purchased now have the firmware issues noticed by maukka fixed?

Sanyo NCR18650GAs for the Fenix FD65 —————————————— Shockli for the NI40 and IRALite

Thanks for the pics. Now I know the xhp50.2 blue is haha.
That’s actually pretty cool. Be nice if second mode is a red xhp 50.2.
And third mode is strobe flashing blue and red at same time.

Important announcement:
