WTS/GB: [4000k ARRIVED, Test Report's In] GT-FC40 (a.k.a. XHP70's flattop, 12v 40w sister) 95 CRI, Available in 4000k, 5000k

Test:

Please put me down for
2) 4000K
2) 5000K

Thanks for the test Djozz. Very interesting results.

I would be interested in a ~4500k 95CRI version for testing depending what my funds look like at the time.

If 4500k doesn’t happen then I could go either 4000k or 5000k. Both if I have the funds available.

If you could get this LED in 3V I would seriously consider swapping my EDC over to it. Just sad there are no TIR optics for this size LED in 20mm.

They said they can do 6v if there is enough demand, but that usually means thousands of pieces to be ordered. That’s something I don’t want to risk going bankrupt over. Maybe @Djozz could try desoldering one of these and see what’s beneath it and if swapping to 6v MCPCB is possible. I previously sent him two pieces so he can abuse one of them as much as he like. :smiling_imp:

4500k seems unlikely as they usually make A5, A4 and C2 bins in their other product stack.

1pc 4000k

1pc 5000k

Anyone care to guess the throw vs xhp35 hi at the same current?

I’d hazard guess slice&diced XHP70.2 in term of beam profile, but less overall brightness due to “CRI Tax”

Please double my initial interest. Thanks

1x 4000k for me

Thank you for organizing this. Any possibility of including the A3 bin?

I will focus on A4 and A5 in this GB run. Other bins may be possible in the next round, if this run is successful.

Current interest list:

I’m happy to partner with BlueSwordM. He will also help gathering the interest list.

Let’s keep the number going

So, should we watch this thread for updates, or the BlueSwordM sales thread where this partnership is also mentioned?

The interest list will be primarily based in the google docs and the orders in BSM sale thread. But I will try to update the list in this page too.

If someone put in their name here, their name will appear on the google docs as well. Unless its duplicate with BSM thread.

I’d say both.

Yes, I see that the Google Doc includes my interest. I was just wondering where we should be watching for future updates on the sale itself, so we’ll know when the minimum is reached and we can order/pay for our LEDs. :money_mouth_face: When you say “both” do you mean that both threads will be equally kept up to date, and we can follow either one that we wish?

I will update both lists equally.

One thing to note here is that BSM now dictates when to make bulk order.

Is this because of logistics or some other reason? If you are trying to procure good Chinese LEDs as a side gig you should try to take it on yourself and see how it goes. No issues with BlueSwordM but he is a busy person with lots of projects as it is.

This is a bit different.

The reason I want to partake in this GB is so that I can get some of these delicious FC40s LEDs myself.

It’s to justify a purchase. I have a light waiting for a high CRI mod.

I’ll be done with my SST-20 GB this Wednesday, so not a problem. Not too busy now that it’s almost finished, and I’m back to university, so way less work for me.

And yes, it’s because of logistics, and because I asked to help him out, since I knew it can be difficult to ship large quantities of orders.

Thanks for the clarification rngwn and BlueSwordM. These will be my first 12V emitters, since I skipped playing with XHP’s entirely because I simply haven’t found them interesting enough to be worth what it would cost. In the past, I’ve had 6V MT-G2 and some 9V COBs and 36V COBs and plenty of 3V LEDs of course. I also haven’t ever done anything with high CRI, or with lower CCT than 5000K. I’m looking forward to testing some of these, because they will be three ways different from my “norm”, plus they’re domeless.
