Fireflies PL47G2 Discussion Thread

SS Bezel is press-fit. It’s not easy to remove.

Headband is optional in additional accessories list. You can see it in product page.

Firmware can be flashed using a right key-pin , just like GEN1.

I purchased a Fireflies PL47 Gen 2 and can’t wait. Would’ve been nice to know that you were shipping them on September 15th after I spent 15$ on 4-7 day shipping last Wednesday though…

I bought the Fireflies PL47 G2 in Nealsgadgets on September 9, it is cheaper and includes clip and magnet. I’m impatient for it to arrive … and he not even sent it yet xddd

Still using my Gen 1 PL47 with Nichia 219B’s on a daily basis with the aid of a copper washer and alternating 2 LG M50 INR 21700 5000mAh/7.3A Flat Top Batteries that I have to charge in my older Xtar VP1 because of recessed Button Tops are not detected in my Xtar Dragon charger.

I use it so much that I change batteries at least once a week and many times, once a day. I use this more than any light in my collection which includes 6 headlamps and I will jsut say 100 other lights :person_facepalming: . It does use up the 21700’s faster than I expected but it has 4 emitters and I like things bright…developing cataracts doesn’t help either.
I have worn out one Jetbeam headband and currently using an Imalent one. Have 10 more new JetBeam headband (my preferred) and Skilhunt headbands (Skilhunt H03 is second “go to” headlamp). With the minor mods, it has been a GREAT light for anything from taking dog out at night to doing home projects to washing dishes, cleaning, finding stuff I drop, and raiding the Frig at night. BTW, do not use a headlamp if you do not want to see how dirty your house really is! :confounded:

I have a second Gen 1 PL47 that I haven’t taken out of the box. I tend to buy 2 or more of the lights that I really like so I have a backup, especially if it is a choice 219B sw45(k) 9080 emitter. It is a all part of the sickness.

I am sure the Gen 2 will be great with the improvements Jack has implemented and I wish I had the funds to order one…or two… but I will have to sell more lights before I buy new ones…Too many great light coming out so quickly!

Point is Jack and Fireflies push the envelope and stubble a bit but he and his company have always come though for me. You just have to be patient sometimes!

Cheers to All!

The armytek plastic headbands are the best headbands I’ve seen. It is extremely easy to use. Just pop in and pop out. No need to fit it through the rubber rings. It fits the PL47.

Some people are concerned about the stiff and uncomfortable switch on PL47 Gen1.

We improved this on PL47G2. One-hand operation is very comfortable.

Is it me, or is the optic in the top photo a bit weird - the bottom two seem fine, but the top 2 are kinda overlapped? (by each other and by the bottom 2?) maybe it’s a trick of the light or something?

Can the button LED be turned off when the flashlight is off?

I noticed a picture on the website of the magnetic tailcap. Looks good.

Also, is there a new update as to when these will ship?

That’s just how the optic is designed, its the same one used in the Wuben TO50R:

Any news of shipments? They haven’t sent any yet?

I ordered mine on September 9 at Nealsgadgets and I am still waiting…

Status: Paid

Ordered September 5th @ FF own site

No news here

Shipped today

Which 21700 battery will suit best in the PL4G2 tube? Can you specify what specification that can drive this quad led smoothly? 20A? 30A? Higher the better? I wondering what battery was used to give the above lumens value…Tq I will appreciated it.

Just want to express my opinion, 4500lumen using xpl hi, if that true, that going to be the brightest, quad led headlamp I have known.

Anduril is a plus…

Hmmm….I’m really tempted

The other pl47g2 thread, I thought it was a group buy. Its not and it was just interest check list…wonder when GB start…

Btw, guy that got PL47 G2…what you got so far?

Samsung 50E/LG M50: SST-20 4000k/Nichia 219B

SST-20 5000k/6500k: Lishen 4000mAh

XP-L HI: Samsung 40T

I say the Lishen LR2170SF is the best 21700 cell for the PL47 regardless of emitter option. It is a 15A cell and anything higher current will not make much difference in a quad. The capacity is not too far from LG M50 and Samsung 50E but it is much higher current and the superior discharge curve ensures better performance as the battery drains.

Edit, come to think about it for the 219b version, don’t think you should use the LR2170SF. Might be pushing the 219B too hard. SST-20 version should be fine though. For 219B, either the LG M50 or 50E is safer.

So if I were to use an 18650 with a PL47G2 with 219B, I can’t use a 30q in it at the risk of burning the LEDs?
