Sky Lumen Nguyen Flashlight

Wow,nice work.

Looks like very durable light withstanding many torture tests. :+1:

I modded a Hounddog or something like that sometime ago and I remember this light was excellent in build quality and design. This is my debut light with simple designs which is not on the level of any major brand.

Yes, Vinh, this is a good idea. Malkoff, for example, sells thick o-rings to be placed around the springs, known as “battery bumpers.” The idea has been discussed before, on the other flashlight forum (search for battery bumper), and perhaps here on BLF, as well. These bumpers are often a simple user add-on, using various common o-rings. Back in the 2000’s, Peak used to accomplish the same thing with neoprene “donuts” glued in place.

Looing forward to the SLN!

I will look into finding a good fit bumper disc.

It seems that vinh’s drive over video test went viral on social media, now more people want to do the same with their stuff :

thanks.

also is this OK as an EDC?.

EDC only if this is ur duty/work light. It’s too big n heavy for a light u keep in your front pocket just for emergency. There r way better lights for that.

Some of us are from Texas, that’s how we roll. Big guns, big trucks, big lights, big etc or edc.

Vinh,

Been a bit, appears you’ve been quite busy!

I played catch-up on this thread today, and quite enjoyed it. Your destructive testing and the lights persistence to continue working is nothing short of amazing, what a BEAST of a light. If you can think of a test using our waterjets, I’d be happy to accommodate anytime.

So well done man. Your enthusiasm and passion for this project is infectious, truly inspiring. I’m definitely interested in the finished product, especially knowing your Lego intentions down the line. Good luck on your remaining steps and hope to talk soon.

Thanks for the offer! I might take you up on it. I am not familiar with waterjets and how one would carry out such test. May be you can send me a quick email so we can keep in touch?

A friend suggested that I should put it in the washer but I am not sure how to do this without putting a ton of dents on my washer…Mom would whoop my ass. We already knwo the light pass the drag and drop tests so may be I can just wrap it around a tank top…Not sure if this is worthwhile…

Test 1: Bucket Water Dunk

Test 2: High Water Pressure

Test 3: Corvette Drive Over

Test 4: F150 Drive Over

Test 5: Heat Test

Test 6: Chemical Resistance

Test 7: Heat Test 2 - 4000L High Drain Samsung 30T

Test 8: Subzero

Test 9: Boiling Point

Test 10: @ Depth

Test 11: Impacts

Test 12: Drag it

Test 13: 4 Story Drop

Test 14: Laundry Spin

Wow! Just WOW!
I like that you built this light as a tank with that quad optic. Separately I got completely the same idea as Henk4U2 as I saw the battery dents. But then saw he was faster
Keep up the good work and maybe I will never own one of your built lights because I can’t afford but I like to get inspiration from your mods to my mods but make it a little different.
Have a nice day!

Cheers!!! Send me an email of u ever need anything.

Hey Vinh, right now I just don't need another flashlight, but after viewing all your torture videos, this will be the next one I will be saving for. You went through a lot of effort to prove just how tough a light it is and to me it would have to be the ultimate survival light, thanks man!

Thank you for the support!!

I plan to launch SLN in several days and allow for serial select. If you are interested please email me for details.

Cheers!

Is the 12 emitter version ready or just the single and quad right now?

12 LED version should be ready to ship with SLN Mid October or so.

How do you fit 12 leds with optics into the opening? Seems it won’t fit if 4 emitters w/ optics look like a proper fit atm.

Its a 12 LED Mule
