Mostly camping but also emergency preparedness. I was just camping with friends and a buddy popped out his old coleman propane lantern. Itās bright, but such a pain to use.
For energy density you canāt beat propane or white gas. But they are both a PITA to use with the mantles, at least thatās been my experience. The mantles tend to break during transportation to and from the destination.
Iām from England, in the winter it gets dark at 4pm for a few weeks, soā¦
1. For work photography when we need more light or when thereās a power cut, which is rare.
2. To encourage the family to go camping, I went once about 16 years ago.
3. For those candle light moments with āherā, without using a real candle.
4. Night BBQās ā¦ in the winter that would mean using BLT LT1 Lantern at 4pm
I donāt know of any reason why that wouldnāt work. Plus, remember that the lantern has a built-in USB charger that has been tested by Den already and he said it works pretty well. However, the Lii-500 can charge them faster.
If the walking dead conquer most of the world, this lantern means a lot. Oh, I still need a baseball bat. Knive can be stuck in the head of it, gun is too loud, also not easy to get in China. Baseball bat is the best. Or a tough flashlight in baseball bat shape.
Mostly for year-round car camping here in west coast (BC, WA or OR). This lantern ticks almost all the boxes ā except that I wish its waterproofness could be at IPX8 instead of just 7. My every IPX7-rated flashlight got water intrusion in coastal rain just in a couple of hours; however it never happens to my Imalent and Q8 lights though.
Other than use in camping, maybe show it off to my outdoorsy friends. I just bought a pair of light tripods and a dozen of new Sanyo NCR18650GA 3500mah 10A button top to go with the lanterns. Next time when I set them up at the campsite, I am sure every friend will be drooling and wants to get his/her own.
Thank you everyone involved in developing and making the lantern! It looks awesome ! (now I can put my other 10 old lanterns to storage)
One is going in the camping gear (will serve double duty for power outages also).
One will be for use around the house during power outages and when we have friends over around the backyard fire pit.
One will go in the shop for when I need to work on a car outside at night or need extra light.
Numbers 4 and 5 will be given as gifts. One for my sister who just moved to Florida (hurricanes) and one for my brother-in-law who is an avid hiker/outdoorsman.
I used the BLF LT1 at my parents house this weekend during a bbq. It performed perfectly. It has 5 modes (default). I ran it on level 4 for about 3-4 hrs and it didnāt dim at all; used the battery feature to check the batteries status; 3.9v. Not badā¦ not bad at all. No one use theirs yet?
I lended my LT1 out to a collegue last weekend. On highest (7x7135) setting he fully drained the (NCR18650B) batteries during a 6 hour clean-out session of his attick where there is no electricity. He was extremely happy with the lantern for that purpose.
