Here are this week’s additions and files linked to in post #1 have been updated. As we are getting close to going live with the buy please verify that your blf user name is correct in the files linked to in post #1. You don’t have to do this if you’ve done it before.
IMPORTANT
Also verify that the total number of lanterns you want are correct in the names file since there is the possibility that we will be sending out single use codes rather than a generic code. Obviously this means that you would be receiving separate PM’s for each lantern you expressed an interest in.
I added you for another one but you won’t see it reflected in this week’s updates since I had already published them. However you will see it after next Sunday’s updates.
Así que pude hacer un progreso razonable en la traducción al francés de las instrucciones de uso de nuestro querido LT1.
Enough toying around, so while translating I gathered my remarks and questions. As it is becoming quite a list, and to keep the project crowd-written I'm sharing all that mid-translation to keep it humanly manageable. They follow the order of the manual and are all candidly made, I did not reread the last X pages of the topic where some point might have already been discussed:
Why no reference to the forum, like a "crowd-designed lantern" mention put near the title, along the first reference to the great Anduril?
The order in the battery brands suggestions does not look like random. I'd suggest to use alphabetical order to avoid the creation of the feeling of subjective inclinations.
We write to use 5V USB sources in the safety precautions paragraphs, but later we say the user can go up to 15V sources. That feel inconsistent.
Should the diffuser be described more as "textured" rather than "opaque"?
I saw so far no words about protected or unprotected battery compatibility?
There are multiple references to the button-top batteries, do we really need to repeat it each time?
To ease the natural ordering of the "Quick Start" part, I'd propose to numbered the main steps. Step 1, step 2, etc
Does anyone knows a great french translation for "electronic side switch"? I'm rather short on that one, all I that I can think of does not seem to "click".
For disambiguation, I'd suggest to use "battery charger" instead of just "charger" (that might be mixed with USB charger).
"70% max on ext. source" part is confusing. How the user is supposed to control/even know this figure? Shouldn't the LT1 automatically lower/control its output regarding the energy source?
Some instructions are repeated. Like maximal dimensions of batteries (first paragraph, and again in specifications). General rule : are repetitions voluntarily made or can be "smartly" controlled?
Is the default mode stepped or smooth? Various paragraphs states one thind and the opposite, notably specifications and UI.
What does mean " double-click (green double lines)" ?
Some things looks not perfectly ordered. For instance, in UI texts we speak about levels (as in level 150) before introducing what levels are and what does they represent.
Acceleration command to leave "MOMENTARY" mode is achieved while HOLDING or with multiple CLICS ?
Why not "for simplifying the UI for users who want a simpler experience."=> for simplifying the UI for users who wants an easier experience." or something the like?
I'd propose that MUGGLE have an added explanation stating that it also intent to securise the usage of the LT1.
Blinkies : are there really two different way to access them from the same OFF state? If yes, this might be confusing ( "do either a 3 clicks (3C) from OFF or a 2 clicks and, hold” (3H) from OFF")
"3.1 volts or lower" => why not directly state "lower than 3.2" ?
Correction Click three times, but hold the third click until the strobe mode stars.=> Click three times, but hold the third click until the strobe mode starts.
Funny, I was today old when I realised that english-speakers are litteraly also using FAQ (foire aux questions / frequently asked questions). That fact has been hanging out in plain sight for my whole web life.
DBSAR is credited for "design" and "contributing design info". Isn't stating the first already including the second?
And are you generally using "design" as in aesthetics, conception or intending both meanings?
I cannot promise, that I will buy all the lanterns I am interested in within a single package, but I might need 2 further units (if I can make all my units as a separate purchase).
I was already interested in 2 units. Now it is 4 unit in total.
1) If purchased with the Sofirn cells - will it be able to be shipped overseas fine (I know there are issues shipping lithium batteries)?
2) Are the Sofirn cells best suited for muggles (myself included…!) or are there other cells I should buy - if so which exact ones should I buy, please? ’
I am here in the US this week so if Sofirn’s aren’t going to work out then I need to buy others here now.
Don’t see why there should be an issue shipping to US. Bought some Sanyo NCR18650GA with S2+ from aliexpress, they got delivered, slow but still came. But any 18650 button tops should work, you can buy from US sites they will arrive faster.
