As long as a cell is not inserted backwards, unprotected seem to be favored. Since it can be charged without removing the batteries, a trustworthy muggle can be told to never open it up. For a oppositional muggle, protected might be called for. But this is just one opinion.

Since it has LVP I personally would use unprotected cells. Protected ones are not without their own potential issues (for example potential shorts) so I never use them myself.

THANK YOU for your interest in the LT1. See first post for major updates from DBSAR.

1. Group Buy is OPEN as of the timestamp of this post so no need to ask. Closure will be announced in thread title and post #1 along with other major updates from LT1 creator DBSAR.

2. Light without batteries is announced at $49.99 USD. Light with 4 Sofirn 3000mAh 18650’s is $62.99 USD. Ignore prices on any existing item pages.

3. This is an INTEREST LIST only and you are not committed to buying ANY lights by being on the Group Buy list. You simply MUST be on the list to be offered one or more Group Buy offer codes and instructions for purchase.

4. When the sale goes live, those on the Group Buy list will eventually receive a Private Message with the link and details that they need to place their order(s). The codes are likely to to be unique for each lantern, so get on the Group Buy list for as many as you MIGHT want.

1 request = 1 entry on GB list = 1 LT1 offer code
7 requests = 7 entries on GB list = 7 LT1 offer codes

5. GET ADDED to Group Buy list with simple post saying “1 for me” or something similarly obvious. If you want 3 lights, ask for 3 to get added to the list three times. If you’ve made prior requests, then please include how many TOTAL lights you want. This avoids confusion as people are asking for more lanterns and then finding out that they’ve already requested all that they want.

6. DO NOT tells us whether you want the light with batteries or in particular colors. All available options for this Group Buy will be selectable when purchasing.

7. SIGShooter is managing a list with thousands of entries and posts updates every Sunday evening, so new requests WILL NOT appear on the list until then. If you posted and don’t see an immediate response, DON’T WORRY, as SIG is doing a superb job. If you don’t see your name on Sunday evening’s updated list in post #1 or the spreadsheet, then feel free to make another post requesting X lights.

To determine if you are on the list for the correct number of LT1’s, go to Post #1 or Spreadsheet and search for your username.

Please use the search feature in your browser or in the spreadsheet app to find/highlight your username.

8. When updated list does come out, check for your username and DOUBLE-CHECK that:

Your username is spelled correctly in the list.

PMs (Private Messages) are enabled in your BLF account settings. Send yourself a test PM to make sure.

9. LT1 accepts FOUR 18650 li-ion button-top cells, though it can operate on ONE, TWO, or THREE cells at a reduced runtime.

Protected cells will work, but are NOT necessary.

Flat-top cells MAY work if the positive terminal STICKS OUT above the wrapper.

High-current cells are NOT necessary for this light, so high capacity cells are preferrable to allow the longest runtimes.

Please let me know if I have made mistakes in this post. I plan to update this post somewhat regularly as needed. This thread is growing very rapidly and will ultimately explode, so forgive me when I miss a few hundred pages. If you hate me for doing this, then please politely ask me to stop.

Well worded :+1: When the code is released for the first 500 order lot, i can use/post some of that to the OP as the update of the opening of the GroupBuy and when SigShooter will begin to send out the codes?

I’d thought I was on the list already for two (*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020) - #6793 by Melraidin) but I guess things happened and that’s okay.

Which is the master list that will actually be used to send the codes? Post #1 has me (correctly) down for two units (entry 1125 and
1126), but the spreadsheet only has one (though there is another entry for “lumiereÿ”, perhaps a typo?).

In any case, I’d like a 3rd so please put me down for a total of 3.

Ok, for anyone in, or near the Toronto, Ontario Canada area, BLF member Sunnysunsun has planned, & set up a meet/dinner night for October 25th , at 6PM, (final location to be announced soon in downtown Toronto) I will be at this meet, and will be bringing the BLF LT1 production lantern along with some other lanterns and flashlights. For anyone who is in the area & would like to meet us, chat, & see the BLF LT1 in person, the story behind it’s design, this is a chance. So far there are 5 or so members attending, and if anyone else in the area or near by who want to drive out to do the dinner meet with us, you are welcome. We will be discussing the BLF LT1 project, then going to a location nearby afterwards, to do some beam shots with our best thrower flashlights. The restaurant location and details will be confirmed over the next day or two. Contact Sunnysunsun or myself for more info, and Sunnysunsun has set up a Discord chat for the dinner meet. We will be bringing lots of lights, I will be bringing both the V1, V2 prototypes, and the BLF LT1 production lantern, with some of the accessories i been working on for it, and bringing some of my favorite monster flashlights, both the OldLumens custom build BLF Contest lights, and maybe some other lights.
