Simon and Convoy, always amaze me...

I ordered an S12 on 9/27 direct from Simon, it arrived yesterday at my home in the US! Another order placed with a respected Chinese seller on the same day is not even tracking to the US yet.

Not sure how you got it here so quickly, but hats of to you!

Thanks Matt

So it doesn’t actually have anything to doing with Simon. The seller has no control over delays by a courier company. Sometimes I get parcels from Simon at 3 weeks and others at 5 weeks to New Zealand and it’s always due to the courier’s delays. It has nothing to doing with Simon himself

I think indirectly it does. He or his company is responsible for releasing the package. The effort was made to ship before their national holiday, which in turn allowed it to get out of China before things got stopped for a week. I did not expect it to even ship until at least the 8th.

I frequently see some Chinese sellers to be very fast, others (mostly the same types) to be very slow. Not entirely knowledgeable about the details, but some shippers (with same shipping service) are faster in my opinion.

Whenever I bought from Simon it was actually faster than with other shops.

Simon is excellent but slower than others at shipping out in my experience and that’s with over 100 lights. I get a shipped notification from AliExpress but no tracking shows for a week, first scan being up to 7 days later saying the shipping label was created.

Plenty of drop shippers with no stock or overheads.

Very positive judgment on Simon and Convoy:
fast shipping, products with an excellent quality / price ratio, the possibility of making custom products and customer service always quick, kind and fast.
I am very satisfied.

convoy is always quick, and in my little experience wurkkos, sofirn, lumintop and ff-light too.

In the US, my Convoy orders have been a bit slow but reliable.

Emisar/Noctigon orders have been downright speedy compared to other international shipments. I think delivery time is about 16 days on average.

Simon often ships same day, even for custom requests. Most recent orders have arrived in Australia in 2 weeks (in fact for >7 days of those days the package is in the Australian customs/postal system).

I now have more Convoy lights than all other manufacturer’s lights combined. I love the insane value for the money that almost all of their lights have. The slow shipping is painful, but the prices are so low that you can’t really complain. I just accept it as part of the deal.

I have always had great experiences with Convoy and their shipping times. I went through a weird "patch" this past summer with 2-3 orders taking upwards of 4-5 weeks, which is very uncommon. Usually they are 12-16 days to the US IME. Which is up there with Hank and even FireFlies, Neals Gadgets too. Neal has been excellent with one of my orders making it to my house in under 10 days with no extra shipping (usps only). Kaidoman often takes over a month for me to receive my orders (more than a dozen orders placed on leds). But their selection is great for my needs.

Is this site/dealer owned by Simon ?

yes

Oh well, two days ago I received my order of two C8+ (as shown in the link) with Osrams, choosing the 4-mode versionS over the 12-group.

One of the lights was the 12-group. I contacted the seller and showed a video, and they admitted the ‘sloppyness’ of the packer.

We exchanged messages through Aliexpress’ chat on the last two days (the last being today), but they stopped replying, though their status showed “active”.

I took videos and sent to them the failure of the light to enter into other group mode (as taught by my more knowledgeable friend).

I hope Simon gets to read this post.

Agree here--Simon ships things out quite quickly and the transportation within China is reasonably fast as well. But once the item arrives in the US and get handed over to Pitney Bowes...that's when we begin the guessing game of "how many weeks will the item be stuck in a warehouse for"!

The thing I love most about Convoy lights is how user-serviceable and modular they are. If something breaks a few years down the road, I don't have to worry about sending the light back for warranty--I could simply get upgrade parts and install them myself with minimal soldering. If some nice new emitter like 519A and SFT40 pops up, I don't have to order a new light--just get the new emitters and swap them in, done.

For this reason, I've actually stopped buying lights that are not Convoys, because I like to get something that I can keep indefinitely--other lights tend to become paperweights or shelf queens once it breaks after the warranty period or becomes outdated. I know that people also do find other enthusiast lights user-serviceable like Hanks and Sofirns, but my soldering and general electronics skills are not up to the task.

Anyone know if the 4 mode driver has memory or if it always starts in Low?
