Does anyone know if the 3000mAh Sofirn batteries offered during the GB are “protected”?

It appears that the cells offered with the GB are these same 3000mah ones available on Sofirn’s AE store, and if so, they are protected. I’d say it’s a safe bet that they are protected.

I have yet to see protected Sofirn cells. None of the Sofirn lights I have came with protected cells. Unless I’m blind the link you supplied is to unprotected cells as well. From my testing Sofirn cells are not something you would buy on purpose. Capacity is OK but only at extremely low amperage. Max amperage is about 2.25 amps which is well horrible.

if you buy purchase batteries alone, there are protected version and unprotected version. Since sofirn lights are protected, the KIT is including unprotected batteries.

Finally paid for mine without batteries. On US ebay, 25 purchased without batteries, 26 purchased with batteries in the first day at the time of this posting. Someone has an offer for 7 I saw that is still pending. No idea what the offer price is.

I believe sofirn did limit to ONE per PERSON . So max you can offer is 1; I dont think Sofirn will accept that offer. I could be wrong but in the description it does stated 1 max.

I’m on the list for 7 — So I submitted an offer for 7 on EBay. Just waiting for acceptance then pay.

In the comment section of the offer I put my Forum user name and the 7 slot numbers from the BLF list so they can verify and approve.

The first round of orders is limited to one per person. You should expect your offer on 7 to be rejected with a request to lower it to 1.

When the second round is released, you should be able to place multiple lantern orders.

I’ve been following the thread closely all year, but I thought that the only real difference between the first and second batches was the manual. What are the other differences?

The major difference is the option to get the LT in something other than black. There are also some driver upgrades that in my opinion would never be noticed by most people.
