Sky Lumen Nguyen Flashlight

Looks amazing sir!

I will grab a picture next time I build one. Its pretty much just a large hot spot with a pure white tint. No hint of anything else.

Thanks

A loosen clicky retaining ring can give poor or no connection. In SLN I soldered the clicky to the copper retaining ring and this solves potential connection issue of a loosen ring. The copper retainer ring pressure now is mostly to hold the rubber boot tight against the tail cap wall for water resistant. A very loosen ring may let in water but it will no longer give connection issues as spring pressure from the light engine and the switch will always close the battery current path.

12LED MCPCB has arrived!
Custom copper shell has not so I am using our normal Quad shell for demo.
12 XPL 5000K V6 Bin is going to be AMAZING!
Ultra smooth gold plated surface for excellent thermal epoxy or solder bonding
Extra thick 2mm MCPCB VS conventional 1.6mm thick MCPCB
Left out all most + and - signs to keep elegance
4 SL logo for symmetry

Question: Should I leave the prints in Black or go with a different color?

Printing in red of course

BEAUTIFUL!

Can the board be white instead of blue so it wont affect the tint and white is more reflective to maximize lumens?

@vinh, yes, I agree with SKV89.

Going with a white matte MCPCB would actually increase your brightness a bit.

Also, would you be willing to go with LH351Ds?

You’d get even more lumens.

I will consider white background with blue logo but not for increased output as suggested. You can have any LED you want. XPL shown is for demo only.

How much more bright?
Does something that does not emit light increase lumens? Can lumens/brightness be increased other than by using a light emitting source?
Not even a reflector increases brightness and that is not behind the emitting angle of an LED.

I like the dark blue pcb a lot with yellow leds on top. A white one will not matter a lot in output (1% for a mule?) but will considerably alter the looks of the flashlight.

1% more light.
So if the mule does 10.000lm, by having 2 square milliliter of white surface behind the LED the mule now will do 10.100lm.
That was the secret to increasing lumens.
No reflector or optic of any angle increase brightness of any LED, they all reduce brightness/lumens , but a white tiny surface behind the LED will actually do the opposite by 1%.

Getting there!!

The bead blast gave an even matte look and should give an excellent surface for the HAIII bonding.

Really can’t wait!

Usually I find black flashlights kinda boring, but that matte black looks so good.

Look at that yummy solid chunk of 7075

We dont need pictures but do need videos of this machine at work. Pretty please. :+1:

If I could get videos I would make them myself but these pics are provided courtesy of the shop. So yeah…Slim chance. But I will ask anyways.

That is a work of Art! :+1:

LilVortex Copper Shell has arrived!
~3oz weight
30% heavier than normal Quad/Triple copper shell
3 times the weight of a reflector P60vn with copper fill HS!
