Zebralight SC700d – A Short Technical Review (lumens/runtime graphs/temperature/PWM/current draw)

You might want to try the SC600w MkIV Plus. Its size is in-between the SC64 and the SC700. Still quite pocketable. 2300 lumens, so not quite as bright as the SC700d, but close.

The SC700d is an overall very decent light, i enjoy the well regulated modes, the thermal balance and the proper runtimes (21700 50E). I use it mostly for tasks around the house and also for nightriding mountainbike on the handle bar. But pocketability is not a strength of this light, of coure in a pocket of a jacket will never be a problem to carry it, but for a jeans pocket is it definetly to bulky for any kind of EDCing.
I have also the SC64w Hi (which is my most used light ever), regarding pocketability, it is definitely in another league. For more output then this and still compact size, the SC600w plus mk4, which was proposed by WalkIntoTheLight is a good choise. The SC600 format ist still very compact, is a bit better thermal balanced and is not to bulky for a jeans pocket.

Not sure if it was already mentioned in this thread, but here is another nice review by 1Lumen.
SC700d

Thanks for the response, it sounds like I thought it would be. To big and maybe more of a ‘house/truck’ light. I do love my sc64 w hi as well. I will look at it the other light. That is a good review you linked. Pretty soon we will be debating on the new ZL headlamps coming out, the a6 and a7. I asked if they are 21700 series and I think they said they would be.

This sounds interesting, its some new information for me, where do you got this from? What else do you know about the new Headlamps? With 21700?

I messaged ZL about it when I was looking at Fireflies pl47 gen 2 ,but their qc seems horrible so bought a ylp 2m cri and maybe soon a zl. I asked if they had plans to release one with 21700 battery , they responded soon a 6a entry level one and a few months later a 7a , not sure but their page has a 6a listed on the compare charts but it says 18650. That’s all I know.

So what other light overall would you consider the better or equal? Waterproofness , toughness dependability, then brightness ui etc.

Well it’s hard to say what light is better or generally good one. As always, it dependent on your needs or your wishes/expectations on a light. If you got already a good one you are satisfied with, than ask your self, what would be nice if this light would do better. More runtime, more output, more throw, flood, smaller/bigger and so on. Depends on the needs, different lights come in focus.

I’ve got 5 Zebralights and all of them are really well made quality lights that I can rely on in all conditions of use. I was often swim in a lake with a zebra in my hand, it’s a nice effect to illuminate the water from underneath.
Zebralight has a few different variations of lights, but not all different needs can be covered by them. There are so many different manufacturers with good quality lights on the market, which are also very good. I do not know all and can not generally judge which are better or equal.
The Zebralight UI is fine, but i also like the Narsil/Anduril UI.

Yuck. 21700 in a headlamp? Too big and heavy! Even though Zebralight makes among the smallest lights, I don’t think a 21700 form could be made small enough.

While I like Anduril, I find it more of a “toy” than a serious light. Also, the whole D2 meltdown with it made me no longer trust it; it’s just too complex to code safety into the light.

Great review.

Excellent review and thanks for the update with beamshots.

I have an SC64c LE that I really enjoy. Wonderful light. I didn’t bother with the SC700 as I didn’t want to get into 21700 cells. And for the price, I’m being pulled more towards an Astrolux MF01s. Still, something about Zebralight keeps me watching.

Nice but you can't get the thing. Eternal backorder on ZL website. I gave up.

They are not good at keeping their site up to date. Some have ordered and have had it ship normally even when it said out of stock. I edc a sc64 w hi and love it. My sc700d I use for outdoor use , the tint is a tad green , could be used to me being used to 4k ish tint. It’s very good outdoors though. Only notice it when I put another light next to it.

gpknives is your friend, had mine in two days.

or nkon…

im lovin it!!!

Is the green tint less obvious on the fd model? I tend to notice mine alot lately in the sc700d. Used to my sc64w hi

I wish I had the Fd Model…

The Green is very real on both this 700d, and the Sc600w MK iv Plus.

The 64w HI is a dream, and the one I carry while working to see true whites/colors.

All others in my collection have no green.

Jim

I might try the DC fix filter, it would turn it.into a floosy and even out the tint I think.

ive got some, but am just a lil lazy now…

Has anybody had issues with battery fit? I have some samsung 40T I ordered from Fireflies and they are too wide and don’t fit my sc700d. Wondering if anyone else experienced the same.
