*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Please add me for one

I would like one. Please add me to the list if it is not to late.

Please add me to the list. Thanks!

LT1 can work with single cell but wondering if it would stay upright with just single cell and top hat reflector shade? or I would need plastic wide base stand.

What is going to cause it to tip over? The center of gravity will still be over the base. The top hat reflector shade doesn’t move the center of gravity out laterally from the base.

CT has 39000 houses no power, my wife asks me where my lantern is.
I said I don’t have a lantern, and she be brought I have sooo many lights, and no lantern.
I can’t wait until I get my blf lantern!

SCE is threatening to cut our power off tomorrow, my LT1 is just about to leave China. fortunately ceiling bounce of the Q8 is not a bad alternative to a lantern.

i am a bit confused, should i order on AE and message Sofirn to change the price or wait PM from Sofirn and then make the order? I am #980 btw.

JakeDjanitor, We were w/o public utility supplied electricity also, for about 4 1/2 hours. We do have an aging battery backup PV solar power system (never a grid tied system!) and I switched it on, but since the batteries aren’t spry anymore we go as easy on their stored juice as possible. Yes, the lantern would have been nice to have. But as outages were anticipated I charged all of the cells last night for our everyday lights and have a ceiling to reflect beams, and I used a headlight as much as possible until the sun rose.

We’re still in the middle of the northeaster that developed bigtime out in the Gulf of Maine. Our public utility power is back now and the batteries are charging in anticipation of the next downed tree that falls across the lines. We have saturated soft ground, the trees still have leaves, we have high winds and that’s not a good combination. If we had been w/o power for much longer I would have started the generator. But it might not be over for us since the winds will last into the night and the soil takes days to drain. But autumn is our “monsoon” season as the wet summer air from the Gulf of Mexico and the cold from the north fight over control of our weather for the winter; it’s to be expected every year.

But yes, the thought did go through my mind that the LT1 would have been nice to have but it’s no where close to my AO. My #128 (correction, #129) is here instead:
“Package has left the carrier facility GuangDongShengGuangZhouShi” . After it hits our mainland it’s still a week away.

I feel ya,I started my little 2000 watt gen. Charging q8 cells now! Running fridge and freezer too

I hadn’t checked this thread for about a month, now I’ve got about 1200 posts to catch up on so I can keep up-to-date … :person_facepalming:

We lost power for a few hours last weekend. Luckily, most of that was during the day, and we have a large skylight.

It was really nice to go downstairs and see the little green ‘come find me’ pilot lights on an SP36 and EC01 glowing happily in the dark. An LT1 would have been even better, but just the two I had were no slouches.

My codes start in the 1400’s, so I don’t expect to be able to order for some time yet. :-/

Ordered mine through aliexpress. Not sure if will already get one from 2nd batch - I am over 1000 mark on the groupbuy list.
The whole process is a bit messy, could be handled better but I guess it was up to Sofirn…

I have an MJ1 I bought about 10 months ago which has been used about once. The new cells I purchase will be the same but spot welded so the voltage sag will be less. Does anyone know if they are safe to use together? I think they should be but just want to be sure.

OK, I’ve finally caught up on all the unread posts. Can I please have another one, making it three in total?

Please add me to the GB list for three BLF LT1 lanterns. I’ll plan on Amazon US ordering awaiting a PM. No rush as I’ll be at the end of a long list assuming that I make the cutoff.

Thanks very much!

Not sure you need to worry about being added to the list anymore, seems a bit of a free-for-all with people ordering way down the list and getting dispatch notices :person_facepalming:

please put me down for another for a total of 5.

It looks like some are ordering now that are farther out on the list that have not received codes yet. In fairness to all I think everyone should wait their turn and respect the process. Jumping line will cause Sofirn extra work and slow the process for everyone not to mention those following the rules getting bumped back farther.

It will be interesting to see if everyone near the end of the list will get a lantern since they are only making 3000 units. It looks like someone could order that wasn’t on the list at all if they just send the right message to Sofirn. I’m not mentioning how because I don’t want to add fuel to the fire, but it has been mentioned on here and is not hard to figure out.

I really don’t understand all this. I thought the list was meant to enforce a limited participation and that it would be first come, first served. Meaning, people would get notified in ascending order of signing up (from #1 up to #3000). So now people are ordering without being on the list, or on the list but way before getting notified? How is this fair?

Also, is the discount code now floating about, enabling these line jumpers? There’s a number of different threads and so many posts, making this all rather confusing. I don’t have the time to keep wandering around aimlessly looking for answers.
