*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

It works thank you

I added you and the interest list is currently at 2,903.

Even though we’ve had some unfortunately things happen in the batch 1 buy I’d be really really surprised if everyone didn’t get the lanterns they signed up for.

annnnnnnnnnnnnd 4 hours later I get shipping notice  :+1:

so i just wait for the second batch and wait PM from Sofirn and then make the purchase on AE? still confuse here. #980.

Would like to buy 1 lantern when available.

As I said in an earlier post, people that use eBay or AliExpress should have to provide the Amazon discount link/code that they received in their PM in order to receive the discount for each LT1. A few of us did try to warn about cheaters.

I don’t understand why so much focus has been placed upon deleting Alex’ posts and quotes of said posts, as surely everyone immediately sees how to do what he did. I’ve gone back to one of my earlier posts to delete my own mention, as apparently we should not discuss the entirely obvious flaws in the prior system. Surely anyone here can figure out how to game a system with a public GB list and no confirmation codes.

Our only hope here was honesty and it worked quite well for the most part; there are always a few buttholes that have nothing better to do than to lie, cheat, and steal.

I don’t understand how deleting a user’s entire post history and all descriptions of his cheat is helpful at all. You can’t, and shouldn’t, hide information. Leave the cheater’s posts for everyone to see, block the cheater’s account (which he can easily replace and thus reappear under a different name), and, most importantly, improve the system that was so easily thwarted.

With all of that said, it’s hard to believe that this person openly admitted his cheat as he was obviously taking other people’s lanterns and seemed to know it. The audacity of “I didn’t want to wait in line, so I cheated” is incredible. Why would anyone be so selfish?

I sincerely hope that this person’s LT1’s get crushed flat during transit, if he gets them at all. There will always be a few worthless a**holes in any group this large. In ancient times, folks like this probably wound up as lion bait  .

And to those who are worried that the Group Buy is threatened or ruined, please take a deep breath. There are many people both here and at Sofirn who are committed to making this work, so grab your towel and…

Thanks again to everyone who is still working hard to pull this off! Your volunteer effort is appreciated!

Question: what type of plastic is the diffuser made from? Thank you.

I tried to order it on ebay and sent some price offer several times since the weekend. But there was no answer. How to order it now?

At the moment purchasing from eBay and Aliexpress is suspended. Sofirn has taken immediate countermeasures to prevent fraudulent ordering from non-groupbuy customers. They are very sorry for the inconvenience and will do their very best to resolve that situation as quickly and conveniently as possible. Sofirn promised that eventually everyone on the groupbuy list will get their lantern(s) for the groupbuy price, no matter what happened during the past hours because some [censored] thought they need to cheat and f***k up this groupbuy.

Relax. Why would any half decent person try to cheat when there is still space available on the group buy list?

  • Because some people can't be patient to wait their turn while Sofirn sends out the codes in order of appearance on the groupbuy list.
  • Because some people think some rules do not apply to them and therefore try to find and use any loopholes. Please don't forget the fact that this is Sofirn's first big groupbuy and one of BLF's biggest groupbuys ever. There is always a risk of loopholes but mistakes happen and the good thing about it is that we will learn from them and do better in the future. :-)
  • Because Sofirn is probably surprised about the significant increase in demand within the past 2 weeks and needs to reschedule their production plan in order to meet this big demand. Thus, there will be some additional delay we need to face now.

In my humble opinion, the only thing that counts is that everyone on the list will get their lantern(s) for the price that was promised. Waiting for let's say another month seems okay to me, taking into consideration that the entire project took some years of hard work. :THUMBS-UP:

Because they’re not 50% decent?

Though they’ve been erased from history, this person stated that they were high on the GB list and did not want to wait so long for their LT1. In other words, even their mother can’t stand them.

What’s surprising is not that some loser cheated, but that they thought they should share with the rest of us how we could do so as well, as though they were being helpful.

This is all I will say about this as it’s already been taken care of.

Yes I read about the “Alex-Gate” and what he has written before he was deleted from the forum.
But my first price offer was sunday 2019-10-13, thats what I am wondering.

I suppose the second batch will have problems fixed (if they exist).

I could only imagine they were / are busy with some backlog due to high demand.

Lux-Perpetua, if you had a Patreon account, I would contribute! Seriously!

This I don’t get either. His only posts were on that. It’s not like banning him and deleting his posts was actually going to matter to him.

I have no doubt that everyone here will get their lanterns shipped within a couple of months. After all, it is only a small group buy consisting of 3500 potential orders. Comparing to all the things ever made in China and designed elsewhere, this is really not a big deal. Looking at my trusty Sofirn Q8 which has been heavily used, believe our combined LT1 team can also deliver — they have already taken actions to squash the bug!

Think about it, over 40% sellers on the global Amazon are based in China. Just the province of Guandong’s GDP was at US$1.5 trillion last year. Meanwhile, Guandong (where Sofirn is in) import-export volume in 2018 reached US$1085 billion and keeps growing. Although cheaters have always been around throughout the trade history, but in such a large scale of demands, with less than 1% cheated, I don’t think they even matter at all. Overall, I wish LT1 project a very successful story!

I understand that the group buy has been suspended temporarily, but is the list still being updated?
I put in a request to add my name to the list a little while back, but I dont’ see it on the list yet.
Should it be done via PM instead of posting here?

Thanks!

I think a lot of us were under the impression that Sofirn may have been trying to dump the first 500 LT1’s and that was the reason for the eBay and AliExpress no code needed offers.
There was a lot of discussion about firmware changes and color offerings in the 2nd batch.
There were people talking about waiting for the 1st batch to sell out and not using thier codes or waiting to use thier codes until the end of the 30 day expiration date.
There was a lot of confusion after Sofirn made those 2 posts. Looks like that is getting sorted out.
What Alex did and what some others may have done by ordering an LT1 off of eBay are two different things IMO.
I don’t think we should be laying the guilt trip on those who grabbed an LT1 or two from eBay.
It was a messy start that’s for sure. It appears everyone who was legitimately on the list, will get the Lanterns they requested. Back to chill status…
