*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Because they’re not 50% decent?

Though they’ve been erased from history, this person stated that they were high on the GB list and did not want to wait so long for their LT1. In other words, even their mother can’t stand them.

What’s surprising is not that some loser cheated, but that they thought they should share with the rest of us how we could do so as well, as though they were being helpful.

This is all I will say about this as it’s already been taken care of.

Yes I read about the “Alex-Gate” and what he has written before he was deleted from the forum.
But my first price offer was sunday 2019-10-13, thats what I am wondering.

I suppose the second batch will have problems fixed (if they exist).

I could only imagine they were / are busy with some backlog due to high demand.

Lux-Perpetua, if you had a Patreon account, I would contribute! Seriously!

This I don’t get either. His only posts were on that. It’s not like banning him and deleting his posts was actually going to matter to him.

I have no doubt that everyone here will get their lanterns shipped within a couple of months. After all, it is only a small group buy consisting of 3500 potential orders. Comparing to all the things ever made in China and designed elsewhere, this is really not a big deal. Looking at my trusty Sofirn Q8 which has been heavily used, believe our combined LT1 team can also deliver — they have already taken actions to squash the bug!

Think about it, over 40% sellers on the global Amazon are based in China. Just the province of Guandong’s GDP was at US$1.5 trillion last year. Meanwhile, Guandong (where Sofirn is in) import-export volume in 2018 reached US$1085 billion and keeps growing. Although cheaters have always been around throughout the trade history, but in such a large scale of demands, with less than 1% cheated, I don’t think they even matter at all. Overall, I wish LT1 project a very successful story!

I understand that the group buy has been suspended temporarily, but is the list still being updated?
I put in a request to add my name to the list a little while back, but I dont’ see it on the list yet.
Should it be done via PM instead of posting here?

Thanks!

I think a lot of us were under the impression that Sofirn may have been trying to dump the first 500 LT1’s and that was the reason for the eBay and AliExpress no code needed offers.
There was a lot of discussion about firmware changes and color offerings in the 2nd batch.
There were people talking about waiting for the 1st batch to sell out and not using thier codes or waiting to use thier codes until the end of the 30 day expiration date.
There was a lot of confusion after Sofirn made those 2 posts. Looks like that is getting sorted out.
What Alex did and what some others may have done by ordering an LT1 off of eBay are two different things IMO.
I don’t think we should be laying the guilt trip on those who grabbed an LT1 or two from eBay.
It was a messy start that’s for sure. It appears everyone who was legitimately on the list, will get the Lanterns they requested. Back to chill status…

Updates are typically tabulated and published weekly.
With the last minute rush, there have been some off-cycle updates posted, but those are exceptions to the normal weekly standard.

Well, I don’t have power outages (I hope…), and I have no money to buy the lantern this month, so I’m cool :stuck_out_tongue:

Being #1820 on the list…and knowing that the GB in suspended in AliExpress, I guess…I will really wait until I get the code by PM to buy one from Amazon(.de)! Even if it only happens in some months :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the updates on this and for fixing the “issues” that emerged! :+1:

Where did you get the idea that what matters to “him” has any importance?

Openly stating how to game a broken but still active process and documenting the steps they took to jump the line at the potential expense of others after carefully insuring their cheating was successful - those are neither consistent with the caliber of person we wish to be associated with, nor helpful in revamping the process.

(note - “we” is collective and used in the royal manner, but I am not officially speaking for the site or design team)

I think many of us were confused rather than cheating. Last week I read a post that said you could order them on EBay by making an offer with the group buy price and user name. So that’s what I did. My offer expired and was not accepted. It wasn’t until I read through all the posts that I saw they only made 500. So apparently I’m in the second batch.

So at least on my part, I had no intention to line jump. I just was excited to finally be able to order one.
Thanks for all the hard work on this project! I can’t wait to get one. I jut wish I would have put in for 2 of them.

I attempted to shed some light on this last week, seemed to fall on deaf ears. Glad to see there is light on the subject now.

Maybe this needs to be on post #1, too?

Agreed, I messaged DBSAR to that affect also.

There was plenty of confusion to go around. Between people stating what did and didn’t work for them with no mention of what their request number was or if they had received the PM yet, and I’m guessing some price match approvals that should have been rejected, it was really hard to know who was talking about what and how to proceed. I’m / we’re not upset with anyone who thought they were following the proper process.

Promise - we’re trying to make things as clear and simple as possible for when ordering is opened up again.

Responding to some comments above.

- I’m still taking names and the next updates will be posted Sunday evening. It’s not really efficient for me to do this every evening (and for DBSAR to update post #1) so please be patient. Given that, anyone who posted an interest during a week should check the following week’s updates to verify that their name is indeed on the list. I’m manually scraping names from BLF so it’s certainly possible that I missed a post.

- We are at 2,904 on the interest list. Sofirn has stated that everyone <= 3000 will get the group price so don’t worry about where you are on the list. After all these years please be patient for a month or 2 more

- The first 500 LT’s are not any worse than the new ones will be. The major change is that colors will be available. There are other minor changes (firmware, some internal changes to facilitate production) that I doubt anyone would notice unless doing an in-depth comparison between LT’s from both batches. Sofirn said “1st batch and 2nd batch has the same function and quality”.

- As Lux-Perpetua said this is the biggest group buy ever in the history of BLF and Sofirn. So the problems aren’t really all that shocking and future group buys will be better for it. And don’t forget that people are doing this in their spare time and it’s not as if we can walk over to discuss or see things with Sofirn. Everything has been done with email/chat over many time and language differences.

- Sofirn is working hard to produce more lanterns and streamline the ordering process. I think they deserve a lot of credit for doing so.

Please put me on the List! I want one

I’m not sure if this has been answered already but I have 2 lights reserved within the first 500. However, I’m allowed to only order 1.so does that mean that it will be made up in the second or latter batches?
