Hi guys... with this review we will see Nitecore NU05MI : very small and very light headlamp with 2x 940nm IR LEDs and 2x green LEDs with a maximum output of 5lumen.

The Nitecore NU05MI comes in a cardboard box with the main product information printed on it. Inside the package you are:

User interface
The Nitecore NU05MI has 4 brightness levels divided as follows:
• Flashing IR: - (measured -) - 18h
• Fixed IR: - (measured -) - 3h15min
• Flashing Green: 5lm (measured 6lm) - 20h
• Solid Green: 5lm (measured 6lm) - 6h

The user interface is very simple and easy to remember:

ON/OFF:
On: When the light is off, a long press on the switch will turn on the Flashing IR LEDs.
Off: When the light is on, a long press will turn off the light.

Mode Switching:
When the light is on, a short press on the switch will allow cycling of the various output levels according to the time: IR Flashing, IR beam, Green Falshing, Green Beam.

Lockout: When the light is on press the switch for two seconds for the electron lockout. To release it, just press the switch for 4 seconds

Recharge: To charge the internal battery of the NU05MI, just use a simple Micro USB cable. For a full charge it takes about 1.5 hours. During the charging phase the status LED lights up red and turns green when charging is completed. The battery is 12 months if it is fully charged.

Charge status info : The Nitecore NU05MI has a status indicator that indicates the remaining battery level. To activate it, in fact, just press the switch for a second, when the torch is in standby:
• 3 flashes indicate a residual charge of more than 50%
• 2 flashes indicate a residual charge of less than 50%
• 1 flash indicates that the charge is almost exhausted

The body and materials
The Nitecore NU05MI is a very small and very light tactical flashlight to use as a locator installed on helmets, backpacks, tactical vests, belts and clothes. Thanks to the plastic support with velcro it can be mounted on any type of helmet and be used as a frontal torch, but given the low power it will be useful only to illuminate in very short distances, to be noticed in the darkness.



The NU05MI thanks to the presence of two 940nm infrared LEDs can be used as a locator invisible to the human eye but visible to night vision devices for military applications.







The lower part is black and contains information such as CE certification, product model and characteristics of the internal battery (3.7V 120mAh). A double hook on the back allows the use of the torch also with an elastic band (not included in the package) or to attach it to attacks M.O.L.L.E., backpacks, pockets, clothes and also for example to the dog collar.



The battery guarantees a maximum runtime of 20 hours if used with the flashing green LED status indicator
The switch is made of rubber, placed in a central position, very easy to activate and to detect even in the dark. Above the switch, in low relief, there is the word "Nitecore".





The NU05MI has 5 different LEDs: 2x Green, 2x IR and a Green/Red status LED.





in the side there is the Micro-USB interface.





In bundle with this model also comes a plastic support. This is slightly curved and has a layer of Velcro that allows the NU05MI to be easily attached and detached by tearing off helmets or caps.

The Nitecore NU05MI beam is flood with total absence of spots. The 5 lumens of green light allow you to illuminate well in the immediate vicinity for example to read a map. The IR LEDs are only visible using night vision devices and can be seen even at a distance of 100-150 m (depending on the viewer used).

Final Considerations
Very small, very light and simple to use: these are the main features of this Nitecore NU05MI. The switch is easily detectable and can also be operated using just one hand.

Thanks to the hook that it has on the back, the NU05MI can be attached to clothes, backpacks, pockets and systems M.O.L.L.E.

Useful as a light point during any night activity, it can be used for example when riding a bike or jogging and in general in all those situations where you want to be visible in the dark. It is particularly suitable for tactical applications thanks to the two IR LEDs which, once switched on, are not visible to the naked eye and can be intercepted only and exclusively by using night vision devices.

The Nitecore NU05MI can also be easily installed on the wrist, on the arm, on the collar of our four-legged friends or even on the band of other fronts, for example by placing it on the nape to make itself visible from behind.

The small built-in battery of which the NU05MI is equipped guarantees a maximum runtime of 20 hours if used with the
the green flashing leds. With the fixed light the runtime is 6 hours.

In short, a small tactical and emergency light that is always ready to use and can be used as a Locator, as a simple point of light and to illuminate at very short distances.
