I tend to buy two of each battery. One in the torch, one to swap out immediately and then I charge the flat one.
How is shipping/availability in Australia? Problems with authenticating genuine/getting it from a trusted seller?
The Shockli does it give max draw to get all out of the light?
The other thing I saw is KeepPower but I canāt seem to find any unprotected cells in this country. Unsure if I can get cells shipped from overseas without potential customs issues. And then thereās issues of returning and postage costs with returning if itās a dud.
Edit: I have an Emisar D1S and I have no doubts the D4S or any other Emisar product will be to the same high standard. I just wish I could buy a Samsung, LG, Sony, etc battery for it locally.
Shipping might be a show stopper, but you can contact Simon at Shockli and ask him about shipping and who might sell them down under; and there are threads about buying batteries there. The KeepPower 6000 is the same cell inside the wrap as the Shockli. If it is protected button top its performance might be slightly lower, but still very good.
With the XPL-Hi someone measured 15.4 amps on turbo. That cell can handle 20 amps and will give maximum without any issues. It is a high capacity cell and will give better runtimes than a high drain cell.
Not bad for a newbie giving you advice, aye?
Just got mine yesterday - same problem. I looked a little closer, and realized there was no o-ring in the SS bezel. Take the o-ring out of the regular bezel, put it in the SS bezel, and that should take care of it.
How do I contact Simon at Shockli? Also, I donāt know who Simon is at all.
Iāll take all the advice/help I can get - itās all useful. Iām way newer here than you and even past that lifeās about learning.
If I can a reliable supplier of some decent cell I can trust then yeah the 26650 is definitely back on the table. I did recently end up paying for a Cu+Ti FF E07, which I expect will be beautiful and cellable with a Samsung 21700 but have a bit of QC wonkiness.
Rbpinto seems to know about shipping to Australia by AliExpress, see above. If that does not work others will chime in with their experiences, but it would not hurt to contact Simon:

Hope it is not too expensive.
I received my new D4SV2 yesterday. So nice! Cyan, Stainless Bezel, floody optic, and SST-20 4000K. Itās pretty awesome for my uses - home, truck, campsite.
I bought this holster for my D4SV2 and I love it. Itās a bit stretchy so it will fit several other lights with a similar size.
It can be rotated and snapped into 45 degree angles so you can use the light to shine in front of you with your hands free. If you donāt want the rotation at all, just glue the rotating part of it.
For a diffuser, this one in 36mm should fit snugly. I bought a similar one from Banggood, but itās not available there anymore.
It should be possible but it is not the best idea because you loose a lot of runtime and brightness. Also the AA alkaline batteries are known for leaking.
If you use only the muggle mode with three rechargeable AA batteries it should work well. Most likely they wonāt deliver more than 1000 lumen. Maybe you could also use a protected 26650 battery?
I looked at the topic closerā¦
Quite a few 26650 lights support 3*AA. But 3*AA holder is actually over 30 mm in diameter. Too large for D4S.
Protected 26650 probably wonāt work - Emisar lights donāt tend to support protected cells.
Anyway - while I feel that protected Li-ion cell threadlocked in a rechargeable light would be a fair choice I would still feel better with NiMh.
