Cool! It looks the like the Olight? Its expensive for a Trustfire.

My first thought was Olight i3E too.
It’s the same deal.
1 mode, TIR, twisty, Philips LED, $ 10.
I bet it’s the same size too.
Only difference is the grooves in the outside.

I should have noticed that but I missed the Olight i3e when it came out. Even the price is similar. You must be a true Trustfire devotee to choose it (that may be me :partying_face: )

I think it’s supposed to be the successor to the i3S, but it isn’t…
It’s one of the smallest AAA lights though.

I consider buying one for the simple reason that it’s the smallest glue-free AAA flashlight that I found….but unless quality is OK this purchase doesn’t make sense. And unless it’s actually glued.

Seeking for any info related to the light I found its sibling, Trustfire Mini3. Not to be confused with Mini-03 which is completely different.

Mini3:

  • has exactly the same dimmensions as mini-06
  • completely different styling, but it looks just as bad
  • has a different LED
  • has a different driver (this one accepts 10440 and has 2 modes)
  • is a bit cheaper ($10 vs.$13)

Neither can be found on trustfire.com though there’s mini2 which is pretty much a 10180 variant of mini3 with micro USB (which costs about 4.5 mm). [ ADDED: it also has a different lens ]

So…is one of them counterfeit?
Is trustfire.com actual trustfire website or just random webstore?
Why is the seemingly better light cheaper?

I can’t find much info on mini2 or mini3 either.

Maybe someone has mini2 or mini3 and can share their experience?

I’ve had TF minis for a while… all cute SS twisties, nothing related with 06. I’m missing the 04 - not sure it ever existed.

I have two Trustfire mini-06, the last one I received a month ago, from Kaidomain. Imitation but not clone of the Olight i3E. They work very well, they are powerful, apparently they reach the 90 lumens that it announces, without visible PWM, a good beam of light with its TIR plastic lens, with a little small central that makes it slightly throwing but also illuminates the environment somewhat. Cold white light, pure white, not bluish; like the i3e, it shows that the led is not Cree. The pill is not attached so there is easy access to the LED, but being a Philips LED is not worth the XP stars for Cree; In addition, the LED is inserted in the same PCB as the driver, so the change of LED I see difficult.

The light comes in a Trustfire plastic blister with technical specifications and does not support 3.7V lithium; but I have tried both units with 10440 efest and they work very well, but I have only tried them a few seconds (but a few times) and they work well, a marvel of tiny light cannons !

I could have guessed that it had a single PCB. It’s only 2 mm longer than DQG Tiny AAA.
I was looking for a hotrod host with QTC. I was thinking about size similar to Rovyvon Aurora but much higher, possibly double output (in high CRI).
It might be possible in this host but it doesn’t look like there’s a reasonable way to get a good thermal path. Could you please tell something about the place where PCB is connected to the body? Could a MCPCB transfer heat reasonably well?

I just noticed that Trustfire MINI3 likely saves some space by using a very compact TIR-reflector hybrid.
So internally it may be different from mini-06, there’s a chance it has a pill or something…

ADDED: and actually MINI2 has different optics than MINI3. It has a regular TIR.

Wow, it’s an interesting light! :sunglasses:

Beam shape is unusual. Small (for a 14 mm head), intense square hotspot + wide spill. The hotspot is like aspheric but not in full focus, no die details, the corners are rounded. Chromatic aberration at the edge of the hotspot.
Quite bright.
I thought I was buying a flooder but it’s actually quite a thrower (for the size).
~60.5 mm length turned off, 60 mm turned on. I guess the former matters more. :wink:
Threads are anodized, there’s a spring on the tail and solid contact on the driver.
Looks OK.
It has a pill! I strongly believe it’s the smallest 10440 light with this feature. :slight_smile:
I don’t want to break it but I’m so anxious to see whether it’s possible to swap the LED that I decided to open it anyway.

I tried unscrewing it. It moved of 1/2 turn then stopped. I see something reflective on the threads. Glue?
I tried scrapping it with pliers, I can’t.
What would be the next steps to open it?…

I still carry the original stainless steel Mini-01 (with the BLF Mini-01 driver) on my key chain after 6 years, it still works great. :smiley:

No, with modestly charged cell (3.7V) the voltage breaks down to 1.x V and there’s 0 light coming out.
Needs a driver swap. :wink:

Anyone tried to swap the LED? I have none that could fit. Like this kind of optics very much. Bright hotspot, nearly 180° Spill. A lot of light.
